I'm not a royalist but I feel that once the queen is no longer reigning then the royal family will never be the same again. It will be the end of an era literally.Be careful when blindly following the Masses.

I am not a big royalist but you have to admire the stamina she must have and without the royal family and I am aware of the many hangers on we could be a very different country and not for the betterComment

Not a royalist as such but I like the Queen I think once she goes it won't be the same unless William succeeds and brings it into a modern era . I have a theory the royal family will be more like the King and Queen of Monaco more of a token Royalty . As I say not a royalist but there is no denying the revenue that they bring with tourists just need to limit the dead wood they carry aroundIm not fat just 6ft too smallComment

I think as a nation we'd be hard put to come up with a replacement for our Monarchy, and I think, and hope, it will survive into the next 3 generations who are waiting in the wings.
I know a lot of people think we should 'skip' Charles and William should succeed Her Majesty, but that would require huge constitutional changes and would weaken the whole foundation of the Monarchy. I hope and think Charles will rise to the occasion as and when he becomes King. Obviously his style will be very different, but society has changed radically from when the Queen started her reign.
