    80 years since VE Day

I have been watching on TV coverage of the various VE Day celebrations taking place this week, culminating with more on Thursday, the actual anniversary.

I saw also that the Netherlands are celebrating.
I am unaware of anything happening near us.

Are there any 80th anniversary events taking place near you?

There are a couple of events here. One is an annual family-friendly music festival, so not specifically for VE Day. There's also a Community VE Day picnic at our local church on Saturday afternoon. It includes a WWII sing along and various displays. I'm sure that will be very well attended, so I hope the sun shines for them.

We had a very different Games afternoon. A few games of UNO were played then refreshments were laid out followed by games of Bingo. I won a tin of biscuits. The hall was decorated with bunting. We have amazing managers of the Village Hall. The refreshments were supplied by Waitrose, free. I am having a quiet day today watching the events on television.

Plant, it's hard to imagine what the atmosphere must have been like on that day in 1945. But I'm sure those who were out celebrating never forget how they felt.
