I've been busy trying to get my artwork finished to put in for judging for the yearly Open Art Exhibition in my town. It's getting more popular now so harder to get works in. The least I've had accepted is 2 out of 3.

Grauntie asked to see what I've done so this is it. 1st is a hand sewn work of a baby scan. The second is a new technique to me which I learned specially for the Open. It's rust dyeing. You have no idea of the results until you take away the cover & unwrap, but this one I did shouted 'flower'. I added beads & I was pleased by it. I never stick to ' conventional art rules' such as mounting straight, finishing off a stitch piece with strands of cotton left hanging.

I can paint & draw in the traditional way but choose not to. However there were times where it was required...life drawing for example. The art stuff I make isn't easily recognised as they are very contemporary. Not to everyone's taste.

I managed to resize two out of the three things I made, so here they are. The rust piece came out much richer & golden than in the pic.

Nana - thanks for sharing your artwork with us.

That baby scan needlework is amazing - what an original and special present it would be for a new Mum and Dad.

The rust work really does look like flowers and adding the beads gives it a more three-dimensional look.

They're both so unusual - you really are very creative. Good luck with getting them accepted.

Thanks everyone. WeeG, no I didn't invent it. I came across the dyeing technique on Pinterest. It's new to me so I just had a go. Some worked wonderfully & others didn't work at all.

What I learnt this time is that I'll have to try to do a piece of work a week then I'll not be left working so hard before the hand in date. Gem, good job it wasn't decoupage or I might have done the wrong thing.😉😁

What a lot of work involved in your projects Nana.I admire your creativity.I’m a conventional sort of crafter and would never have the imagination to do this sort of work
