Hope the cough soon goes and Eva can get back to running around outside. Not easy keeping dogs indoors is it? Nasty thing though, kennel cough, I remember our great Dane had it. Give her a pat from me please!
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Eva says thank you for all your kind thoughts.

She's going out in the garden - just for a sniff round and toileting needs.

We often hide treats round the house and she loves searching for them - she has a nose like a bloodhound (and I have had a bloodhound and know what it's like!) so she generally hoovers everything up very quickly. I think I'll have to get or make her a snuffle mat which might keep her occupied a bit longer. She's quite subdued at the moment, and I think that's the antibiotics kicking in, but I'm sure that won't last long, knowing Eva!!

For those who haven't had the joy - this is a snuffle mat!!

I love to play scenting games with my dogs. Their sense of smell is so wonderful and so much more sensitive than mine I can't even imagine it. When given an opportunity to play scenting games, their enthusiasm is contagious and just makes me want to find more games for them to play. I've trained search and rescue dogs

Thank you for asking, Clover. She's not coughing so much - OH heard her in the night, and she coughed a bit this afternoon. She's got 2 days of ABs left, so we're hoping that that will be the end of it. She's then got to be free of cough for 10 days before she can mix with other dogs.

We seem to have had a lot of people coming to the door today so she's been entertained by them quite well. She's also getting spoilt by us!

The snuffle mat reminds me of a rag rug Daisy.
Glad Eva is on the mend.

GM - yes, I thought the same, but it's great for hiding treats in.

I think it is a brilliant idea. Easy to make and to keep clean. I will introduce DD1 to the snuffle mat, she has two dogs to entertain. Thanks Daisy.

A friend told me it's best to use non-fraying fabric like fleece otherwise the dog(s) can end up swallowing threads of fabric. I hope your DD1's dogs like them

She's ok in herself, but a bit puzzled by the changes in her routine. The ABs are best given on an empty stomach, so instead of breakfast first thing she's getting tablets and having to wait half an hour for breakfast. Her body language as she stands looking at her meat is classic - "feed me, feed me"!

I know how she feels Daisy. I’m having to co-ordinate my AB s with meals but at least I understand why. Glad she’s okay in herself.

Clover - I bet you don't get your ABs wrapped up in two sorts of cheese, though. So it's not all bad. for Eva. I could probably just put the tablets down her throat, but I put each one on a little bit of Cheddar and 'ice' over it with Primula cheese spread, which she loves.

How is your finger? I hope it's not painful. x

Eva seems to be much better, and hasn't coughed again today. She's had a fairly busy day - I've done several short training sessions with her - just tricks to keep her occupied - and she's played with her toys a lot. Then she started to act strangely. It was about 8 pm and we were watching tv. She started pacing round, coming back into the living room and giving me a Paddington Bear-style "hard stare". She didn't need to go in the garden - she'd just been and she 'asks' differently. We puzzled over it for a good few minutes, then it dawned on us - she wanted her antibiotics! I've been giving her them half an hour or so before her breakfast and about 8-8.30 at night. I'm sure it was the tablets she wanted, not the cheese parcel they hide in!!!!! Little monkey. She's going to have a shock when she finds she's finished them all up tomorrow!!!
