    Eva on the 'sick list'

Even animals seem to be suffering from bugs and nasties going round this winter.

On Saturday afternoon Eva started coughing and then retching as though she was going to be sick, but wasn't. Otherwise she seemed ok. We thought she had just got very thirsty after a long and energetic play date with Cooper, or had perhaps scratched her oesophagus on a bone. But by last night alarm bells were ringing - it sounded more and more like kennel cough.

We took her to the vet this morning, and he agreed. So she's had an anti-imflammatory injection and has 7 days of antibiotics. The real problem is KC is highly infectious so she can't mix with other dogs until she's better. It may be a few days, or it could be weeks! Just when training was going so well, and she and Cooper are playing together really nicely.

Apparently there's a lot of KC around here at the moment, but if you don't realise what it is you just think your dog's got a bit of a cough and it's nothing to worry about!

I sympathise with poor Eva. How about a whiff of Vic? ๐Ÿ˜
Is she confined to the garden?

GM - my first thought was Vic who?

Yes she is confined to the garden really because if we take her out and she meets another dog just breathing near him could pass on the infection. The vet described it as like spraying an aerosol of germs round just by breathing. the worst thing is it's too wet for her to play ball or something in the garden, so we're going to have to invent games to play indoors to keep her occupied.

That sounds a good idea, GM. She already uses the stairs like an assault course!

Aww Poor Eva , will Cooper have to be checked now ?
Running up and down stairs with the ball can keep them fit , I know Storm gets worn out doing it its rather noisy though

If she has treats, try hiding them. I know Shiloh loves this game, and it's good mental stimulation.Get well soon Eva.

Hope it only lasts for days and not weeks.

Poor Eva, try hiding dried food round the house as a yummy hide n seek game!
