    Puppy Matters

Excitement is mounting in the Daisy family as DS2's new puppy is nearly ready to leave his mum.

DS2 & Co went to see him again today, and DS said the noise made by 9 very active puppies was unbelievable. It was hard to get photos because they were all on the move, but they managed a couple -

Lovely pics. We are weakening here, OH keeps ‘mentioning’ having another dog and making me watch dog rescue programs.
How do you cope with all those pups? Jolly hard work I think. The chosen one looks adorable.

Plant - he's a Hungarian Viszla - he'll be similar in size to a German Short haired Pointer.

GM - we only lasted 5 weeks without a dog when Clyde died (2 years ago today ). The house seemed empty without a dog, and despite the problems with Eva we haven't regretted it at all. I can imagine the breeder has her hands full with that lot, plus two other adult dogs.

They haven't decided for certain, but they are probably going to call him Cooper (not Copper!). Most of the litter are leaving a week tomorrow - the 20th, but they aren't having "Cooper" until the 24th. With them both being at work they thought it would be better to have the week-end at home with him before taking him in to work. Also, he's the smallest in the litter so a few extra days with his mum (and one of his siblings) won't do any harm.

Daisy, he is lovely. I remember you doing a poll here about names for him.
                      i voted for Cooper.

Daisy he is wonderful and those few extra days with his mummy will make all the difference to him I can relate to having a big litter from when my Bonnie the Basset had 9 puppies quite a few years ago for the 1st 2/3 weeks they cuddled up to mum nicely but when they found their feet it was mayhem to say the least,we ended up rehoming them in our very large shed during the day and every tea-time when I got in from work I used to stand at the kitchen door and just shout "puppies" and they all ran towards me nipping and biting my ankles,it was cute to watch them eating with pegs on their ears so they could get a good share of their puppy food when they started weaning, happy days. One of those puppies GS still lives near to us and he is the double of his gdad, his name is Henry and my dogs name was Henry also so very small world indeed.

Glamm - that's interesting. It must be very hard to keep track of who has fed and who hasn't. The breeder has been giving 'our' puppy a bit of time on his own with mum just to make sure. Last time DS and family were there she put him with mum and he fell asleep feeding. The breeder's other Viszla went up to him and nudged him awake and he carried on feeding. His aunty was looking after him, and well as the breeder. Our GDs were a bit surprised that they were getting their toes nibbled last week-end, and at one point gD2 was lying on the floor with puppies all over her. I think the breeder is making sure Mum get a bit of 'me' time without them - I'm sure she needs it. Weaning is going well - there's a video of them all piling into (and I mean literally 'into') a big tray of mince.

                              Update on the puppy!

DS and family are going to collect him tomorrow evening, so only one more sleep to go. The excitement in the family is unbelievable - and that's just DS and DIL!!! I think this is going to be a very-well loved puppy.

For all those who kindly voted on his name, thank you very much. It did actually help to make their decision - and he's going to be called:

                              Cooper
