It's supposed to help clam down nervous/anxious pets during fireworks, storms, separation anxiety etc. I was very sceptical, but tonight Eva has been much more relaxed - I gave her Rescue Remedy about 5.30, and she hasn't needed her thunder shirt at all. She's a little bit unsettled, but that could be because OH isn't home yet. A big improvement on last night though, when she was frantic with terror. Who knew dogs were affected by what kind of music we played them!!

btw - there 5 hours of it and as far as I can tell it's much the same all the way through.

Oma - if it helps you to sleep, go for it. It is quite relaxing, except that every so often an advert pops ups.

Maybe we should try it for the cats!
We will be out for a meal at friends house next Saturday when I imagine there will be lots of fireworks going on.
We usually leave a radio on in the house at these times, and make sure all curtains and blinds are closed to help deaden the sound..

Gem - try it beforehand. It says to play it quite loud to help mask any external noises, but with cats (who I am sure are much more sensitive to noise than dogs) it might be an idea to play it loud in a different room from where they normally are. I'm sure it helped Eva despite the odd advert popping up.

Never mind the dog I could listen to this all the time it is so relaxing,we are fortunate not to have any loud bangs and fireworks going off at the minute but next week-end will be the time I think,we bought Pops a tiny Thunder shirt last year and it worked very well for her I will certainly try the music though I'd leave her in the bedroom on her favourite fleece with the music on just for her.

Glamm, I think thunder shirts are great, but I've also read that bandaging works just as well, if not better. You can easily do a 'half-wrap' with a scarf or any stretchy piece of cloth in an emergency.
