    Oliver is Missing

My lovely Oliver has been missing since yesterday I am devastated to say the least.we have been out all night looking for him with no luck,I feel so guilty but John says its not my fault as we could not keep him in doors all the time,he is micro'd and has his tags on he has always stayed in the 2 gardens either side and our garden I am just thinking he may have become a wee bit more adventurous but John insists he would have found his way back as we have a big boundary stone wall which he can't climb all around where are bungalows are placed,I hope no one has stolen him with him being so handsome,we have been up all night and my eyes are so red and piggy like from crying,I am in the process of printing some posters to put up locally,I have checked all neighbours sheds and have been to the Community Centre opposite where people drop off day centre patients to see if maybe he had jumped into their cars if he managed to get around to the front gardens, how can I go away on holiday if my little chap is not back I am so so upset.

Glamma, is there a Missing Cats in ..... Facebook group? There is a York one and they are very useful for spreading the word.

I'm sure you have already done the following, but if not - phone all local vets and RSPCA and Cats Protection. Put notices in any local shops, and put flyers with Olivers picture through doors nearby. ( I see you have done that, sorry!)
The missing cats group here say hang clothing with your scent on on the washing line (something worn but unwashed) and sprinkle some used cat litter outside. Also empty contents of your hoover bag outside!Apparantly these scents can help guide a lost cat home.
He is so cute, someone is probably just looking after him until you find him again.
I hope he is home very soon xxxx

Are there any empty properties around? My BIL's cat was missing for over two weeks over Christmas one year. An agent had opened a small top window as the empty house was musty smelling. The cat must have jumped through and the window slammed shut after him. A passer by had spotted the cat looking out of the window a few times and eventually decided to call at the address on the poster! It seemed there was a dripping tap that kept water supplied and perhaps some mice! It did seem this cat had used up one of his nine lives. His name was Fresca (sp?) for cool cat as SIL is half Italian.

One of my cats (who is still alive and well aged 18) went missing for over 48 hours a few years ago.
I did all the usual things, and no sign of her. She never strayed beyond the adjoining gardens so it was out of character. I had a strong feeling that she was in the garage of the house behind ours. I waited hours for them to come home from work. They opened the garage, searched and called, but no sign. I was gutted. The following day I had a phone call from that neighbour saying they had my cat! They had gone back into the garage and she came out. As I was speaking on the phone , through tears of relief, the cat came bounding in! We can only presume that either she was asleep when they called for her, or she didn't come as it wasn't us calling!
Another of my cats, when I lived in a terraced house, got locked overnight in the house next door, which was uninhabited and was being renovated. We knew where she was though, as we heard her plaintively meowing all night. As soon as the builders arrived next morning I told them and went in and found her. The poor cat was hoarse for days!
Our boy cat went missing for almost a week once and came back quite dirty. We think he had been trapped in somewhere.
These things happen. Keeping my fingers crossed for Oliver.

Reading Shems Post, I have just remembered that a cat was locked in our house when it was for sale and EX OH and I had both moved out. He thought he has set the cat door to Locked Totally. But he had set it in In Only!! The poor cat got in and couldn't get out. Next time we went down it bolted out, poor thing!! The house didn't smell good for prospective buyers after that

No sign as yet I have posted on Facebook on the local page we keep going out and calling him I have as suggested put his bedding out on the back terrace and his favourite food.Am off to ring the local vets its something I have been putting off in case he has had an accident but surely they would scan him and let me know anything if he had been taken in.Is there a possibility of a catnapper in the area I hope not.

Oh Glam - I do feel for you. Try and stay positive - lots of posters, asking everybody you see. Drop a photo off at the local vets and any cat shelters and charity shops.

He's a young and healthy cat and he'll probably turn up on your doorstep demanding food. xxx

Edit - sorry Glam I got interrupted posting this and am glad you're checking the vets as people often take cats in there if they think they're lost or strays. x

So sorry Glam. DDs cat was missing for days, we walked miles trying to find him and he wandered back home with not a care in the world. I do hope Oliver returns home soon xx

Oh no Glam I've been there I know just how you are feeling, ours went missing for for 3 days , turns out he was locked in an outhouse 3 houses away in the street, 2 sisters well into their years had been getting their gardening equipment out and so was a while before they went in again after locking him in, he was thin and covered in cobwebs but he was fine. I do hope you get moggy back soon

One of my DD cats was missing for 6 month , she was found by a man 100+ miles away , he had been feeding her as she was living at the bottom of his garden , he took her to the local vet when he managed to catch her and as she was chipped they contacted DD and she travelled down to get her , never thought she would get her back , no idea how she got so far ,all we can assume is she had jumped into a van and was let out at other end ,
