Shiloh has to fight the flab.

Took him to vets for his treatments, as always they weighed him. In 6 months the muck monster has gained 4 kilos, so vet advised cutting back on his meals and no more treats. Oh dear the boy ain't gonna like it. But it's for his ownm good, want a healthy dog as he is only almost 2. Plus dogs carry extra weight near the heart area, so got to get him down to 22kilos.

      Poor Shiloh
We were told to diet our male cat. We tried. We bought the horrible looking diet food from the vets, but chubby cat hated it and and his skinny sister loved it! With 3 cats it is difficult to control eating and unlike a dog you have no influence on their exercise.
He's fat but happy and has lost a little weight as we are more strict with him than we were and have to harden out hearts to him asking us for food.
He is much older than Shiloh, so I agree you need to do something, for his own good.

      Good luck LG!

We had to drop Millie's treats when she put on weight after her spey. We give her two inches of carrot for her evening treat which she loves and she steadily lost weight.

Shiloh had a 1/3rd of a carrot for his treat tonight, and it will be carrots for training as well. Luckily he likes carrots.

Oh poor Shiloh,it's for his own good. It's just a shame he doesn't understand why the carrots keep coming.

Poor Shiloh - 4kg is a lot to lose. I sympathise with him, LG!!!

Eva has put on weight since we had her, but she was a bit underweight when she came to us, but now she's just edging into being 'comfortable'!, ie another gram will be a gram too much. It's hard to do reward based training without dishing out the treats, though, and she definitely wouldn't work for carrot, green beans or any other low-cal treat. On training class days I give her slightly less food at mealtimes, but it's a bit hit or miss, and sometimes I forget.

I hope Shiloh doesn't notice the new regime - and I bet he won't slow down at all.
