This morning we have to drop off Oliver at the Cattery and Poppy at the Kennels for their holiday stay we leave at 6.30am to-morrow so need to get them sorted to-day,they both know something is going on Poppy always hides when a suitcase comes out of the loft and her babies get put in a bag for her and making sure we have all the right vets stuff for them both is like getting children packed up to go away for 10 days never mind pets.Poppy always goes to the same place its a Livery Stables and Fishing Farm she loves the horses and comes back smelling of horses,Oliver is going to another place as the Stables has not had the final inspection of their upgraded Cattery as yet so they can't go together but the place is very 5* according to the write up and reviews and we drove up and inspected it and we where very happy I just have to instill to them he stays indoors its a pity they couldn't stay together as I'm sure they are going to fret

Glamm - it's always hard leaving our pets when we go away. Poppy will miss you, I'm sure, but it sounds as though she has lots of fun as well, and Oliver is such a darling, I'm sure he'll get spoiled rotten.
I'm always amazed how much stuff we seem to need to take Eva out just for a day! We're going away in the caravan on Thursday for a few days, and I'm already trying to work out what we will have to take for her!

My GD house sits for people she knows and looks after pets and horses. She did it for a family friend and word got around. Parents of a friend have asked her to look after dog and cat for a few days and she has agreed to look after some horses for a friend.. It is cheaper than kennels. She also has a full time job and that is mainly with animals, she is waiting for a goat to give berthLast edited by Plantaholic; 19-03-2017, 11:10 PM.What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

It's lovely when you have someone you know and trust to look after your pets.
Once years ago we left our dog in kennels we hadn't used before and she came home in a terrible state. At least nowadays kennels are more strictly regulated and with reviews etc.on social media I ' m sure you can be sure your pet will be well looked after even if they do miss you.

Plant - I think lots of people would rather have someone they know and trust stay at their house while they are away. I know Gem has cat sitters, and we are lucky to have a friend who comes and stays with Eva if we go away without her.
I bet your GD could find herself very busy!
Clover - we had one bad experience years ago, but I do think they're much better now they are regulated by the local council."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Glamma, I hope Oliver and Poppy enjoy their stays
If we go away for one or 2 nights we ask local friends to pop in and feed and check on the cats twice daily. Any longer than that we have someone to stay the whole time we are away.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
