Sam was a friends dog. A greyhound cross, so sweet and gentle.
He looked beautiful and was a beautiful nature.
He was a rescue dog, found at around 18 months old, abandoned tied to a post on a roundabout. The friends have had him for several years, and given him a wonderful life. It took him some time to trust and stop hiding from visitors, He gradually got used to us regular visitors and would come to be stroked. He never stopped being afraid of men.
Lately he has been unwell, showing signs of either stroke or brain tumour. The vet prescribed some tablets which seemed to help for a week or 2, and although he couldn't walk as well or as far he was eating well and still enjoying life.
This morning we heard that he had started to had fits and has been put to sleep.
We feel so sad as he deserved a long happy old age. However I remind myself that he had many happy and much loved years due to his caring owners.

They are the couple who have recently parted after many years together. They are together in grief over this today xx
