Glamma, we can't leave any food out on table or work surfaces. I can't say the cats definitely would jump up, but they may, so we don't take the risk, everything is covered. OHs cat never ever jumped up or stole food. It took her a while to adjust to living with 3 who will, or at least may. She eventually learned - put it away or cover it!!

After 15 years of living with Clyde who would do anything to get at food, it's been quite liberating having Eva. She doesn't jump up to the work surfaces, doesn't take her own food until you tell her to, and doesn't come into the room while you're at the table. Obviously this isn't our doing, and she has learned that she can cadge an occasional slice of carrot or something when I'm cooking, but that's all. We haven't tested her on say, sandwiches left on a low coffee table yet. So that might prove one temptation too far!

Storm has been trying to open the fridge door lately to get at the cheese , he hasn't worked it out yet thank goodness 😊, I think we may have to resort to baby locks , . He's really good when we at the table he will go outside or lie down in other room and as soon as you say out when we in kitchen he goes and lies in between kitchen and dining room he knows he's not allowed in , but give him a chance and he takes what's in reach , He loves his food 😀

            He's such a character, Oma.

Eva has just come and told me it's her tea time. She's a bit early, but I'll let her off.

Our cats have tea at 5 ( as long as one or both of us is in at 5!) They start asking from around 3pm however. If by just after 5 they are not fed, it would be a cat haters nightmare. All 3 sit in a circle and stare at you!!! Unprepared visitors ask whats going on and we say, 'Oh, it must be 5 o clock'

Shiloh is like Eva waits until told to eat his food, doesn't counter surf and knows to go into his basket while we are eating, the latter took a while to sink in.He is a real foodie and breakfast can never be later than 9am and dinner 5pm,he seems to know when it's time.

LG - Eva expected breakfast about 7.30 when we first got her, and I'd been used to giving Clyde his insulin at 7.30 so she was lucky for a while, but if I overslept she didn't seem to mind too much, and now I usually tell her it's breakfast time - depending on what time I get up. But she did look at me a bit funny when I had to feed her at 6.30am one day last week!

Gem - I can imagine how scary it must be with all 3 cats glaring at you like that.

We had a problem when the hour on the clocks changed last month it took Pops a few days to get used to the change as she is spot on with her timing for food,Oliver is going the same way but to be truthful he will eat all day long if you let him he is such a greedy boy but he is made to wait and we only let him have 3 meals a day + his kitten milk,he is certainly growing fast and so so chunky we should have called him Rocky instead of the more sedate Oliver as there is nothing sedate about him,but he is so loving.

Glamm - we had the same problem when the clocks went back. How do you explain such idiocy to a cat or dog!!

Oliver sounds gorgeous and he's obviously a growing boy and needs his tucker!

It always takes our cats a week or more to adjust to the clock change, and in their eyes, new feeding time!

Gem - your cats are absolutely right - it is a new feeding time.
