We live in a semi detached house and some seagulls have built a nest behind our neighbours chimney. The other day we looked up and there was this adorable little grey fluffy ball staggering about under the watchful eye of Mum ( or Dad) perched on the chimney pot! Passers -by stop to watch if they notice it,it's so cute.I bet I won't be saying that in a year or two when it's swooping down and snaffling the food from under the beaks of the other birds.

Before we had two enormous willow trees cut down two years ago we had a terrible problem with birds. Because we are so close to the airport when they did the bird scaring (shooting guns) the birds would fly straight into our trees and make the most horrendous racket especially if they were the green parakeets. We couldn't put anything underneath the trees because they would be there for hours screeching and pooing. When my old Georgie was still alive but too old to climb up the trees he would sit on the bedroom window sill chattering and dribbling.
I am so glad we had the trees removed, not because we spoiled their fun but because the garden is much lighter and I can park my car without it being covered in bird poo.

Our next door neighbours had blackbirds nesting behind their satellite dish earlier this year.
When we went Wakefield a couple of weeks ago, we saw Peregrine falcons rearing their chicks up the cathedral spire.
They had big screens in the church,so you could see them via the webcam in the nesting box.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Awww, clover - how cute! Rather like the reverse of the ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan - the fluffy baby bird turning into a noisy ill-mannered glutton!
We've got a next in the eaves of a dormer window - I think it's thrushes, but I can hear them twittering away for hours!

We have problems with white doves. I was thrilled at first to see one. Now there's six or seven who all come to feed at the same time. When they leave collared dove's come for the seed. After these come a pair of wood pigeons. Last but not least are the sparrows to eat if there's anything left. As you say it's all the poo they leave behind. I love birds but the dove's are overstaying their welcome. Also our beautiful robins have disappeared. 😱"Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."

Nana, there are thugs in the bird world, just like ours. The bane of my life are the Jackdaws. The mob the little birds, swing on the squirrel proof feeders and tip all the seed out, and hang around like groups of sulky teenagers"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. We went to vIsit friends whilst on holiday in Devon, they have lots of bird feeders hanging from small trees, they had gold finches and siskins as well as the usual sparrows and finches. I could have watched them all dayWhat is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Plant, that would be lovely. My OH hopes for lovely and intersting birds to watch on our feeders, but it is mainly fat pigeons! Having cats may be a deterrent, but as they are all too old for chasing birds, and the feeders are inaccessible to cats anyway, I don't think that makes much difference. We do hear pretty birdsong from the top of the apple tree however“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
