    Just a little Information

You all may have heard through the media that it is going to be a legal requirement for micro chipping our beloved doggies, there is a scheme with Local Authority Kennels for this for the owners at just £10.00 each dog which is a massive saving to what your vet will charge (some vets may also part take in the scheme) all dogs have to be done by end of April I think, we where unsure if Poppy had been done when we got her and had her checked but hey-ho up popped the chip so her previous owner did take the trouble to have her registered so all we had to do was notify them to change the address on her details which was easy to do.

Glamm - many thanks. that's a timely reminder.

It's also worth checking your pooch's ID disc - the law says it should state your address, but not the dog's name.

The rescue centre we got Eva from gave us her ID disc with all our details on it, including our address, our landline, both our mobile numbers plus an 'emergency' number - our DS's mobile. It also says 'I am microchipped'.

There are still so many stray dogs ending up in rescue centres, but I suppose the new law won't make any difference to some owners!

Storm is already chipped he also has a collar disc with all information on except his name that the breeder had done before handing him over to DD , Vets charge a lot more than £10 that's for sure

Thanks Glam. We had our pooch chipped but I'm not sure what's on his ID disc. I'll check later. Thanks for bringing this up.

Daisy you are so so right in the fact that some owners will not even bother about the new laws which come into effect 5th April,I also wonder if the powers that be will enforce the full "fine" if owners are found to be flouting the law I suspect they may just get a slap on the wrist and a warning.I have just spent the morning cutting up old blankets for the dogs home and most of the poor dogs in there at the moment are Staffies which have been ill treated in one way or another.
