Reunited

[Daisy]

On Thursday morning we said a sad farewell to Clyde. It was a difficult decision which we've been talking about for a couple of weeks, but on Thursday morning we decided to phone the vet, who kindly came out to our house. Clyde gently went to sleep in my arms. He has given us far more than we could ever give him, and we miss him very much.

I hope he's reunited with his brother Rusty, and they are playing happily together in a doggy heaven.

Thank you all so much. It was the most difficult decision we've ever had to make about one of our dogs. We didn't want to get to the stage where his life was a burden to him, or there was an emergency. It's a comfort that he was peaceful and relaxed in his own home.

We had a chart on the fridge to keep track of his insulin etc and I've replaced it with a big yellow sun GD1 painted during half term. It makes me smile, just like Clyde did! Silly, eh.

Clyde was a lovely, loved boy, they both were. I never met them, but I felt I knew them.

Thank you again, ladies, for your kind and loving words. My dear friend M who always looked after R & C when we were away got back from her holiday yesterday, and it was hard to tell her about Clyde. She's just been round with flowers and dragged me out for a short walk. We've reminisced, laughed, and got tearful. I'm so lucky to have great friends, whether they are in cyberspace or the same village.


Gemini - thank you for your advice, we are dithering about what to do with Clyde's things. We'll keep the various beds because DS2's dog uses them when he stays, but you're right, there's no pressure to sort everything out straight away. xx

Oma, yes, I am very grateful that we gave him a peaceful end. It was so sad wrapping his little body up in his favourite blanket. We've chosen not to have his ashes back - he'll live in our hearts and memories.
