    Flea bombs

Our cats had a bad flea infestation (we had been treating them correctly but the treatment didn't work so we had to get a different method from the vet)

You also have to treat the house as the critters jump off the animal when full and jump onto any passing body when they next need a feed. Hence humans get little bites near the feet and ankles.

We decide to use flea bombs rather than the spray method. OH bought two - one for upstairs which we put on the landing with bedroom doors open , one for downstairs in the living / dining rooms.
We have also put all washable soft furnishings through a hot wash.

You remove all plant and animal life, close windows and doors and light the bombs on a firm surface. We used old trays.
You also need to remove smoke alarms as we found out to our cost!

They must be left undisturbed for four hours.
We and the cats are confined to kitchen, conservatory and garden. The two rooms are not connected but both reached via outside doors.
We have key to out friend G's house, a couple of minutes drive away, should we need the loo during that time.

You then open all windows and doors to let the smoke out. It looked quite alarming in our living room, which we could see through the glass doors separating conservatory and dining room. I'm glad no neighbours called the fire brigade!

Gem, the flea bombs sound very efficient. I know it can be hard to get rid of the pests with a spray, so the bombs were a good choice. I can imagine the neighbours panicking when smoke started to pour out of the windows - lucky they didn't. But hopefully your cats are now flea-free and so is the house.

Years ago I remember using some kind of candle to get rid of some pests in the greenhouse. I thought I'd taken everything (especially plants) out, but had missed one and it was just a crisped up mess when I could finally go back in there. But it cured the problem.

Daisy, the window opening part is yet to come so we shall see We can do that just before 1.
It did look very alarming through the window at first though! Big plume of smoke rising upwards. Now it just looks foggy.

The bombs are better as they get to all nooks and crannies,
You could miss lots with a spray.
I remember my next door neighbour getting pest control in when they were overrun with cat fleas.
They did the same thing , it looks alarming but effective,
I remember a lingering smell for a few days when her doors were open.
Mind you this was over 20 years ago and things change so hopefully you don't get that😁

We can still smell it Oma despite doors and windows open all day!
I did wonder what the Sainsburys man thought the strange smoky smell was

Do you think the flea bombs have done their job.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
