    Kitten antics

Our kittens are almost 5 months old.
They have grown a lot since we got them aged 9 weeks.
They are very active and love going outside and we need to let them have a good run around most days. Our back garden is secure in that cats have to be able to climb a 6 foot fence or even higher hedges to escape. By the time they can do that they are bigger and more able to take care of themselves.
We are still keeping the cat flap locked.

The second time we took them out Poppy managed to find the one small gap between next doors and our garden! OH had to ask our neighbours to let her into their garden, where she led her a merry dance, and eventually came back though the gap. I managed to catch her. That gap is now closed. We do want open it up eventually so hedgehogs can come and go.

Yesterday both kittens decided to climb our very tall apple tree.

We had things to do for our New Year's Eve, and it was drizzling. Coaxing cats down from a tree was not on our To Do list.
In the end OH had to climb a ladder and get them as they went higher and further towards the ends of the branches No fun at all!

We let them out again today and I saw Moses climb halfway but I called him and he came down. Hopefully high climbs will be off their agenda now for a while.

Gem, it always amazes me how agile cats are, and climbing in what looks to me a very hazardous situation is a big attraction. Trying to keep an eye (and rescue plan) on two teenage tearaways must be a full-on job!

No need to call the Fire Brigade to get them down?

Today they had to be rescued from the flat kitchen roof, or rather he did.

Gem, nothing better than a cat for climbing.
They certainly keep you on your toes.

Would he have been able to get down safely on his own, Gem?

                    I don't think he knows how , Daisy , and it's a fair drop.

Oh dear. That's a worry, but hopefully he'll practise his 'getting down' skills in safe places - he is still just a baby.
