    World War Three.

I miss my cat badly and our new rescue dog Bess has lived with a cat for 9 years so I thought I would try to find an older cat to adopt. Eventually we found a cat rescue organisation who would consider us.
We went to see a ‘suitable’ cat, but it hid and we couldn’t see it properly. Today it was brought to us to see. Oh my, that poor old puss. I had a cuddle, half hearted from the cat’s point of view, then we introduced him to the dog. Oh boy! The cat took one look and went for the dog who retaliated. It was horrible! All claws, hissing, barking, snarling and growling. The man who had brought the cat immediately stuffed it back in the cat carrier and made a quick exit.
Apparently the cat is approximately 7 years old and wasn’t neutered until it was brought in for re homing recently. It had many war wounds, some fresh, so I think he is a fighter. I think we have had a lucky escape!

Grauntie, that must have been quite a shock, for all concerned. But poor old puss - he must have been in some horrible battles. I hope Bess made a speedy recovery. It wasn't going to be a friendship made in heaven between Bess and the cat, but don't give up.

My DS1 and DIL1's cat and dog don't take much notice of each other, but it is lovely when they snuggle down together and I think they both gain from the other.

Wow, Grauntie, i think you had a lucky escape there.
There will be a cat somewhere that needs a good home, who will get on the dog and visa versa.

        Oh dear

I miss my cats so much. The first Christmas with no feline for 45 years!

Gem, I can imagine how sad that must be.

After we lost Clyde it was just a few weeks before Christmas, and we decided to have a holiday after Christmas and then start looking for another dog. We took a load of doggy things to the rescue centre, and found Eva. She came to us just 3 or 4 days before Christmas, and she was quite nervous and a bit fragile, it was wonderful to have her - we'd lasted just 5 weeks without a dog in the house. They leave such a big hole in our lives, don't they. xxx

There will be a puss out there just right it’s a matter of try try try again till the right one comes along .
DDs cats and Storm get on no bother and all sleep together unless Buzz the naughty cat is in a mood then he has Storm cowering in the corner
Storm and Talulah dote on each other it’s pure love but Buzz gives his love sparring,
Hes so sweet to me and DD and GS but will attack SIL at any given moment and poor Storm is terrified of him when he starts

I hope you get the right one soon xx

Our last cat was inclined to attack. I would love a cat but I think I am too old now, I wish the family would have one.

I'd love to know why cats attack like that. DS1 and DIL's cat keeps well out of the way when Eva is in their house, because Eva chases her and Bailey, who normally loves the cat, joins in the chase with Eva!

Plant, I think it's ok to get a cat, because it will share itself out between you and the family, I'm sure, and it would be lovely to have a little furry bundle curl up on the sofa with you in the evenings.

I think they attack as they are scared especially if the dog is a lot bigger. None of my cats were exposed to dogs so I don't know how they would have reacted.
You have feel sorry for both cat and dog in these instances don't you?!

I agree, Gem. Neither animal was happy. I feel guilty that Eva chases Scully. If Scully stood her ground and hissed at Eva, Eva would back off - she's not that brave. But Scully just makes her escape.

Storm loves cats trouble is he doesn’t realise they are all like his so gets upset if next doors cats hiss at him,
He wants to befriends they don’t 😁
