We have been talking about snow globes in another thread. Beautiful to look at but if you have pets (or visiting children), please be careful.
I've just read a heartbreaking account of what happened to two of a family's precious dogs. One had managed to pull a Christmas snow globe from a shelf, and the owner saw it and immediately got to the liquid (and the dog) and started cleaning it up. The liquid went everywhere. It didn't feel like water, so the owner Googled it and found some snow globes have ANTIFREEZE in them. The vet saw the dogs immediately and started treatment - induced vomiting, antidote and they were put on drips. Sadly within 36 hour both dogs had died.
It takes only a very small amount of Antifreeze to poison a dog or cat, or a human. The liquid is sweet so pets will lick it.
