Drama in the garden

We started the day with a little drama. I went out into the garden with Eva - I love the nice quiet peacefulness of early morning - filled the bird feeders and was watching a robin when a huge black cat came over the fence and went to pounce on the bird. Eva saw it and gave chase - right through a flower bed. The cat disappeared behind the summerhouse and reappeared by OH's woodturning shed. Eva ran round the other way and chased it down the side of our house. The cat didn't wait to see how close Eva was - up over the side gate and away!

Eva came back looking so pleased with herself - and she did save a robin from certain carnage, but has crushed and broken several plants, including a peony which is (was) just getting established.

I've never seen this cat before and he/she was very handsome but with dogs in 3 of the 4 houses that back on to us he was certainly living dangerously! His escape route was in the opposite direction he came from, so I hope he knows his way back.

Thing with cats Daisy as Gem will tell you they will travel for up to 6 miles surrounding their home , so it could come from anywhere , Im sure it will find its way back 😁
Clever Eva even if she did trample on the plants she saved the Robin , good girl Eva 😁

When my Daughter was upstairs her Husband photographed a wee Robin hop in the back door , it didn’t fly about in a panic , but hopped about ignoring him and explored the room , negotiated its way back out , via two doors and flew off !
Maybe if Eva had taken time to miss the plants the Robin would have been caught ! They are too trusting for their own good

Hope that cat will think twice about visiting again. Shame about the plants though .When you have nurtured them and then they get destroyed it’s so annoying and disappointing . At least yours were sacrificed in a good cause, a bit like mine decimated to give the slugs and snails a good feed!🙁

It is the birds who play kami Kasi in our garden.
They will insist on strolling around on the grass. There are lots of shrubs and greenery to hide in and many cats in the neighbouring gardens. Our elderly cat is no threat. In fact we have seen him sunning himself and showing only mild interest in a pigeon strolling within paws distance! Other younger cats are more of threat, and recently we have found a pigeon and blackbird deceased in our garden. I have had a word with next doors cat, the likely culprit but I don't think he was listening to me.
