Very wise Daisy. I hope you never need them, but best to be prepared.

Another local incident of a potential dog theft. A lady was walking her dog in an area call The Rye, it is very close to the town, well used by people, has a childrens playground. It was quite early, around 7.30 she walked her dog, it was running around off the lead, a man took a lead out of his pocket and tried to put it on the dog but the dog ran back to the owner. That is how bold they are. I wonder what he would have done if he managed to catch the dog, probably had a car parked nearby. It was suggested that people carried a dye spray. We had a post asking if we thought dog theft should be treated the same as someone stealing your private possessions. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Plant - how frightening for the lady. Thank goodness her dog has the sense to run back to her. Even more frightening that there's a children's playground there too. It was a dye spray I've got, and apparently it smells horrible too (I haven't tried it).
There's a Government petition proposing a change in the law. At present stealing a pet dog, cat, etc is the same as stealing your jewellery, handbag, phone etc. A lot of dog and cat owners want the law to recognise that as a pet is a sentient being and a member of the family there should be stiffer penalties for stealing them. I know someone who's dog was stolen about 10 years ago, and she still hasn't got over worrying what might have become of him. She said it was the worst time of her life.
If I can find the petition, I'll post it on my FB page, and if anyone would like to sign it I would be very grateful."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
