    The Great Garden Birdwatch 2021

This is coming up again next weekend.

Will you be taking part? We certainly can't say we are too busy this year can we?
OH does ours as she is the one who organises and fills the bird feeders and is a lot more knowledgeable about birds than I am.
I would be filling in 'small cute colourful bird'
    a lot

    Here is the link.

It seems to come round very quickly each year. I've never done it before, but I might this year, although we're not feeding them much this year. I didn't want to run out of seed and not be able to get more with lockdown etc. There has been a noticeable fall in the number of birds in our garden though.

We have a lot more birds in our garden recently Daisy!
We have several feeders with various things in.
Sunflower hearts are a recent addition and the birds love them!!

        OH orders online.

Gem - I mainly feed sunflower hearts, but only on the table. I only put nyger seeds in a feeder because we end up getting rats in the garden if we put bigger seeds/nuts out, and I worry about the dogs getting diseases from them. I've also got just one feeder in the front garden by the bird bath which I usually fill with peanuts, although that encourages squirrels. You can't win! I only ever put out small amounts which are cleared every day.

I ease my conscious by keeping plenty of water for them - about 6 bowls scattered round the garden, some with stones etc to make it easy for insects to use.

After my problem with rats I have just three feeders on a fence and only fill them with fat balls. They are now near my sitting room windows so I can watch them feeding. I have a flock of long tailed tits come most days, apart from them I have blue tits, great tits, sparrows and robins feeding on the fat. The magpies try their luck. I saw a blackbird enjoying the snow it was almost disappearing then coming up and shaking its feathers. I might have a go this year, thanks for the link.

Last time I did it, there were two crows and that was it. The day before, and the day after, the garden was full of birds! It was as if they knew I was watching them!
