    DD Cat

DD`s cat Buzz has been licking his back to the point he has a bald patch almost to his tail DD tried everything vet gave her steroid cream etc but it was getting worse so they took a skin scrape and blood tests , he doesn't have a bug or flee allergy and nothing showed up in his blood , took him back to Vet tonight and Vet thinks he is suffering from Anxiety , talking to her vet and pin pointed the time it started was when a very large Tom cat started to wander into the house and Buzz would hide this cat has been back this last week and Buzz started to over groom his back again , so Vet told DD to keep this Tom cat away and has put Buzz on Anxiety pills ,Said she must spray the Tom with water to discourage it coming into the garden and house . Poor Buzz hes getting lots of attention tonight

Oma, poor Buzz. You'd be upset if a great big thug kept breaking into your home, and so would I! Has your DD tried a hormone diffuser? I think the cat one is called Feliway or something like that. We used to use the dog one for Rusty when he had spells of unexplained anxiety. It may take a couple of weeks to start having any effect, but it might help.

Yes Jean she tried that but wasn't doing anything for him Tallulah was very calm with it though . Mind you this Tom cat is a big fella and he hisses at Buzz ,Tallulah is a tiny thing but shes a fighter and chases this Tom out she isn't afraid of him . Buzz needs to toughen up bless him

Does Big Bad Tom come in through the catflap? You can get ones that stop 'foreign' cats gaining access, but I suppose your own cats have to wear a collar/transponder or something. Other than that, a well-aiamed water pistol sounds like Buzz's best defence. Poor little man, I hope it gets sorted.

They don't have a cat flap Jean Tallulah is a house cat , this Tom follows Josh in and sits on the window sill outside head butting the window to come in SIL going to buy a water pistol one of these super soakers so he can hit him at a distance to try keep him out of the garden Vet said its a more human way rather than throwing something at him when he does

Sounds like typical case of anxiety overgrooming Oma. Poor Buzz. Keep the Tom out at all costs otherwise it could get worse. Some cats start to mark their territory in the house when this is going on. Spraying up curtains and soft furnishings etc. He feels threatened in his core territory and this is the worse thing for cats. I know it may mean keeping the doors closed for a while and playing doorman to Buzz when he wants to go out, but unwelcome Tom needs go elsewhere. Do you know who the Tom belongs to? Is he neutered? Perhaps if not you could ask his owner to get him neutered as that might help. You can get a paper collar to put on stray cats from Cats' Protection. It has a message saying "If this is your cat please ring this number" and you can add your phone number.
P.S. Some vets recommend the natural product Zylkene for stress which you can buy on line.

Bizzy yes DD knows his owner and he has been done but he fights with all the other cats around by all accounts hes just a big lad and a bully . He had his first taste of being squirted last night SIL found one of Joshua`s Super water pistols in the loft and DD said when SIL squirted him he shot up in the air then raced over the fence so maybe it will deter him . Its a shame as he is a handsome fella but Buzz has to come first , There other cat Jasper is a big Ginger tom but he only comes home every few weeks has a feed DD Worms and Fleas him and then he wanders off again for another few weeks or he would see this tom off im sure

Buzz does have to come first it is his home and a bit of "frontier justice" will not do the invader any harm at all. Tell them to keep it up as much as they can and he may well get the message. This is not uncommon and can cause problems between neighbours sometimes. I wonder where Jasper goes when he is away from home, perhaps someone else if feeding/caring for him.

Poor Buzz. We have a local cat known to us as Bad Cat, LOL. It is a real litle sod, often preventing all our cats from coming downstairs. They are terrified of him. We have a long range water pistol which we spray him with if we see him in the garden. Normal cat scarers, like shouting and clapping hands have no effect. He just stands his ground and growls!!

Bizzy he has several places he gets fed they all know where his real home is , DD got him from cat rescue he had been born feral and Vet said he most likely reverting back but still is happy to come home sometimes he`s black with muck but he`s healthy and happy with how he`s living. Kicks up a right stink when DD puts him in his cat box to take to vets for check ups

Goodness, & I thought our dog was a complex character. Nothing compared to the complexities of these cats tho'.
