WARNING This thread is about 8-legged creatures!

A couple of weeks ago I was moving a large cabinet around in our living room. As you can imagine, it doesn't get moved very often, so I took the opportunity to get rid of a network of spiders' webs, dust and dog hairs from the back. Just as I was finishing a very large spider darted out from nowhere and scuttled away under the skirting board.

If I'd seen her before she saw me I'd have collected her up and put her out in the wood pile in the garden, but she was too quick.

    I forgot about her.

Sometime later we noticed a line of tiny, baby spiders marching across the ceiling. I'm convinced they were the offspring of the earlier escapee.

Yesterday, I picked up the previous day's paper to read with my coffee. I did the crossword and then refolded the paper and out popped the spider. Again she was too quick for me. By the time I'd stood up she'd disappeared.

So the hunt is on! It's too early to come and live rent-free in the house! She needs to go outside, if only for her own sake in case Eva gets her.

OMG is that the big unit on the fireplace wall ? how on earth did you move that ? i hope Js wood turning stuff was ok .

Im afraid i wouldnt have settled till said spider had gone to spider heaven , i just cant abide them , very rare they come into ours im sure they say to each other ... dont go in there lads shes got the hammer and hoover out ...

Dont mind moths or beetles even a wood louse although i prefer they stay outside but spiders have no place in my house yuk

I have a house guest, I saw it emerge from the television cabinet and I lifted up my legs and is disappeared. I know it must be still around, I don't mind if I can see them it is when they suddenly appear. I couldn't kill them, I try and catch them in something soft and put them out. Not a thoughtful as Daisy, finding a wood pile, they have to find their own.

Oma - yes it is that unit. I moved it with difficulty. I'd been asking OH to help for a couple of weeks, but he was never around when I needed him. A bit of pushing and shoving did the job!

Plant - our house guests need to be introduced to each other. Your place or mine?

My house guest ran from behind the television this evening, saw me so veered off. A bit later it decided to make a run fur it towards my chair. I presume it is still under my chair, I sat with my feet up for the rest of the evening. It is huge, when can he/she come for the night Daisy

Two years ago I had a lovely holiday cottage for a week in Haworth, one evening I was going upto bed and the biggest spider I have ever seen crossed the living room floor, I mean BIG, I am not afraid of spiders, but, I had to check there was no way it could get up the stairs! They were wooden open stairs and I really checked to make sure, I only saw it the one evening but I did keep my eyes open for it.

No problem with spiders for me which is fortunate as with my less than perfect domestic endeavours they are often around🙁😀

Plant - your house guest can come and visit any time, provided there are no rowdy spider parties - just think of the noise of all those feet bopping away on the wooden floor!!

I'm with Oma. They have to go to spider heaven.

No spiders here my Oliver would be in his element if he saw any indoors !! mind you he has been known to deliver me a field mouse after he has been out on his adventures around the neighbouring gardens.

Glam no problem with mice I think they are lovely , apart from the dead or half eaten ones next doors cats leave on my back step for me .
I know they are a gift but not nice to open the door on a morning to a grizzly sight

I am quite put off when Ollie paws them around the kitchen when still half alive I do my best to save them and place at the bottom of the garden

Now I really do not like mice in the house unless they are in a cage.
