    Dog Clubs

Those of us who have Dogs or part time dogs , do you take your Dogs to dog clubs ?
Apparently this is a new thing , People with same type of dogs are setting up clubs for doggie play dates

Storm goes to a Husky meet on Sunday if DD has time and its amazing how they recognise their own kind .
As Husky's are escape artists its in a enclosed area and they can all be let off leads to run and play safely with no fear of taking off somewhere . .

Now I can see the sense in that , plus owners can compare notes and tips on that breed , but do they really need their own club?

What about the poor 57 Heinz variety dogs will they be the poor relations hahaha

Another mad fad im not sure will take off , having said that the way we love our dogs it just could

    How cute

    I don't think cats would appreciate a Cat's Club!

What a good idea if it means Storm can be let off his lead.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Oma - I think anything that helps a dog to lead a more 'normal' doggy life is good. They are pack animals and I think most of them enjoy contact with other dogs. Obviously if you've got a shy, nervous or reactive dog it's not a good idea. It's also difficult in our overcrowded country to find places where you can safely let them off lead.

But I think you're right - they recognise their own kind. Cooper's mum and dad know several other people with Vizslas and when they see each other in the Forest the dogs are always delighted. I think it might be that they can play with each other without self-handicapping.

Eva falls in to the Heinz 57 group though, and in any case she couldn't cope with a crowd of other dogs. There was enough excitement at dog training last night, and there were only 6 dogs, all on leads!

But at least shes getting to know other dogs Daisy ,
Personally I think Doggie day care was the best thing DD ever did for Storm he's so relaxed around other dogs and they have what they call a chill corner its a little pen for the most unsure dogs so they don't feel overpowered they can see and sniff the other dogs but the more excitable dogs cant get to them

Oma - I think you're right about doggy day care for Storm, but Cooper wasn't so lucky. He went to a small day care a couple of times. The lady running it was brilliant, and Viszlas were 'her' breed, her OH frightened Cooper very badly (I don't think he did it on purpose, he was just too hard on him at a critical stage) and it's made him very cautious around men he doesn't know.

So now we have Cooper two days, and the rest of the week is a mixture of time in the shop with DS and DIL, or at home on his own. If they leave him at home when he's tired he'll just go to sleep on their bed and they can leave him for a couple of hours.

I've not heard of any round here Oma, but our dog would love it I'm sure. He socialises very well on his walks & OH always comes back with a story to tell.

Oh poor Cooper , Storm has always been afraid of men we have no idea why , he is ok if they get down on the floor at his level '
Poor Cooper must have been traumatised and if it happens as Pups I think it stays with them ,

I must admit the daycare Storm goes too is exceptional you see cars pulling up and the dogs are going mad to get in they all enjoy going , if we take Storm as soon as we pull into the road he knows were he is and starts crying to get in there

Nana what kind of dog do you have ? I didn't realise you had one x

We have a cocker spaniel Oma. He's nearly ten years old now. Black with a white flash down from his chin to his tummy. He's gorgeous & one of the loves of my life. He's got the loveliest of temperaments & the GC love him too. He's really good with them. However I always keep a close eye on them, as you never know. We take him on holiday with us & he's never been in boarding kennels. OH tells me he's popular with all his doggy friends too.

As I said I'm sure he'd love a dog club. Think of the business opportunity there.😉
