We always had pets when we were kids. My brother and I always bought each other a pet for our birthdays. My parents never seemed to mind and we looked after them ourselves. We had rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises, hamsters and gerbils. We never took them to the vets. When they got sick, they just got better on their own, or they died. That seems very neglectful now. While I was still at primary school, I bought myself a kitten (from the pet shop). He cost 10 shillings. I bought one tin of cat food. I called him Sandy. He lived for 18 years. I loved him like he was my baby. I don’t have any pets now. I go away to frequently for it to be fair on them. I do get to look after my daughter’s toy poodles 🐩 🐩 when she goes on holiday. They are so cute, Martha and Mabel. They are coming to stay during the Easter holidays while my daughter and family are away.

They are Daisy. I walk them down to the foreshore and they scramble about in the water. They get covered in mud and seaweed. I walk them home again and then put them in the sink to make them all fluffy again. They love it. They are such good fun. Whenever I sit down in the lounge they both come and snuggle up. Because they are so little they fit on my lap easily.Always face the sunshine and the shadows fall behind you.

Awww - how lovely. Rusty and Clyde were the same. Much as I love Eva, I do quite miss having two little dogs snuggled up on your lap, rather than one large on who weighs a ton!
