    Helping the Australian animals

I wasn’t sure where to put this so hope this is right.

Like everyone else, I have been so upset by all the terrible fires ravaging Australia for the past few weeks. As most of you may know, my DS and his family live there and our GD is travelling around the country also. I feel so desperately sorry for all the people who have lost everything, cannot imagine what it must be like. It has also been so upsetting to see all the animals that have been lost, thousands of them, some species in danger of extinction. I know there are lots of ways we can help the people by donations etc but I was heartened to realise we can also help the animals.

I have just joined a Facebook group called - UK Crafters for Australian Animal Rescue Group - a bit long winded. People are knitting, sewing or crocheting various items - pouches, wraps, etc - to be sent to Australia to be used for rescued animals. There are different hubs around the UK where the items can be sent and they will then be despatched to wherever they are needed.

I thought this was a great idea, so am passing it on. I will start knitting some Joey pouches today, so easy and quick to make. Thanks for reading 🙂

Enfys - what a great, practical way of helping. If you've got any links for patterns, I'm sure they would be welcomed.

Daisy, all the patterns are in the group. Not sure how I’d share them.

Oh, that's ok then. No, you probably can't share them from the group, but if they're there that's fine.

            Poor animals
Thank you for sharing this Enfys. I have zero knitting and crafting skills but I know others here do.
Were my mum a few years younger she woudl have made some pouches. Neither her hands not eyesight will let her knit any more.
