    Poor Magpie

Magpies are bullies but today I did feel sorry for one ,

Just outside our spare room window is the bracket for the Satellite dish , 4 Magpies were sitting there making a right racket ,
I went outside and looked up as I couldn't see from the window what they were doing ,
one was sort of sitting there and the other three looked distressed and were screeching and fluttering around ,

I came back inside then we heard a thud , looked out of the window and one was on the ground ,

I went out with disposable gloves on thinking I could maybe help it but it was dead and by the feel of it had been dead for a while , it was cold and stiff ,

The other 3 were peering down very quiet , They watched as I wrapped it in a cloth and packed it in a bag to put in bin then flew away ,
Poor things must have been trying to get it to fly ,

It didn't look like it had any injury's I checked it over , I think it must have just sat there and died

As I say they are the bullies of the bird world but didn't like seeing one die bless it

Magpies are bullies, but a shame one had to die.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I know what you mean, Oma. Every creature has a right to life, even if they are feathery bullies.

We are getting a lot in our garden, I am sure we never used to.

Oh poor thing. It’s not their fault they’re bullies!

We have a Larsen trap for magpies! They are a nuisance here. I understand some people are sympathetic to all animals, but I’m not one of them! Foxes, badgers, magpies are not welcome in my garden.

Avo I suppose it depends where you live. I understand Badgers and Foxes are not good to see in Rural setting and if you keep chickens or ducks . We do get the odd Fox and squirrels being in a town where there is lots of forestry around us but never Badgers. Well not that we know off anyway. We do sometimes get pesky Moles ☺

I can tolerate some animals more than others, and it very much depends on where you are etc. If I kept chickens like Avo I definitely wouldn't want foxes around. I hate to see magpies attacking the nests of smaller birds, and I get very fed up with the jackdaws which scare smaller birds off the bird feeders and cause havoc. I really don't want to host rats in our garden either! Eva chased a badger out of the garden one night, and she always sees off foxes.

I really don't like grey squirrels - they do so much damage to trees, stripping bark. They may be cute, but .......

On Monday afternoon I found a Sparrow Hawk in the garden which was injured we caught it and yesterday took it to the Raptor Foundation to their hospital. Sadly they rang me yesterday afternoon to say it had died, they are very difficult birds to deal with apparently...As others have said it really depends where you live and your lifestyle as to what creatures you can happily live alongside!

Awe that's sad Avo. Trouble is some birds get very distressed and die quickly from it.
Daisy the Magpies do the same as the jackdaws they chase the little birds such bullies
