    Hedge-Cam

Last night OH set up her outdoor camera to hopefully capture our resident hedgehog. We knew it was about as we saw it near our back door a couple of weeks ago, and hedgehog poo has been spotted about the garden.
As I said on another thread, yesterday we discovered it was sleeping in the hedgehog house, which we thought was only used to hibernate in!

So last night the camera was set up. Its triggered by movement and films for a minute I think.
We got Hermione on it (if it is her!) coming out of the hedgehog house and wandering off
We also got 2 filmings of Sooty, next door's cat, eating hedgehog food and drinking the water.
We look forward to tonight's filming. Our friends say they have cats and mice eating the food for their resident hedgehog, all caught on their camera.

Gem, I'm sure S's hedgehog films are better than most tv programmes. Nanto - I love watching film from bird boxes - it's fascinating.

Although we don't have a camera to catch the antics I do love sitting in the garden watching the birds fly down to feed, they come around the same time ever day,the two doves will come right up to Johns hand as he pours the seed into the feed box they are so tame now.

How exciting. I’d love to see the antics of local wildlife.

Gem - it's lovely to know she's still around and thriving. Also interesting to see what the cats are up to.

I'm not sure if this will work, as it is a video.
We got a couple of good films of Hermione last night.
This is her feeding, then moving onto her water. Then along comes Sooty-next-door! This is the 2nd film of her eating last night, so hopefully she had had enough when he came along.
Our cats are uninterested in hedgehog food. Sooty loves it it seems. We have several sightings of him eating it.

** It was taking a while, so I will try again later as I have to get on. I doubt it will work though.

Hedge-Cam broke so was replaced. The new one is fine so far!

Lots of recent footage. Exciting news is there are two, at least!
We had thought it was possible as the hedgehog seemed to make a lot of visits to the food during the night, sometimes when it was all eaten. Sometimes it looked bigger than at other times as well!
The last two nights we have seen two hedgehogs at the same time, so there are defiantly two, if not more. One is bigger than the other.

When tidying in the garden today OH found a hedgehog nest towards the back of one of the flower beds. We have seen the hedgehogs (on film) heading in that direction. We are not sure if Hermione is camping out in that as her summer abode, or whether Hedgehog 2 is sleeping in there and Hermione in our hedgehog box, where she hibernated over winter. We must carefully life the lid one the box one day and see if anyone is sleeping in there!

Gem, how lovely. You might end up with quite a hedgehog colony at this rate.
