Grauntie you've got your hands full.😉

The owners of B (the old dog) are loving & patient & treat him as a family member. Sad all round. He's a very loveable dog.

Nana - I know exactly how you felt after you lost your last doggy.

The dementia thing is very difficult. We reached the stage with Clyde where he often seemed to be in his own little world and we didn't know whether it was his poor eyesight, early dementia or fluctuations in his blood sugar levels because of his diabetes. Our vet was very helpful and we know he would have told us if he thought we should make a decision. We had fantastic support from a doggy diabetes forum, and one piece of advice was decide in good time what would be the sign that he had had enough. We came up with three things - not being able to follow us round the house, not eating, and becoming unsteady on his legs. He did get slightly incontinent, but was happy to use puppy pads at night. It sounds as though your neighbour's old boy is happy in his own company, and is hopefully eating and drinking ok. You're right though, it is very sad, and I don't know what I would do.

Grauntie - I think your old lady has the right idea - keep the hoomans on their toes!!!

Glamm - it's great that you've got such good kennels and Popps is happy going there. I expect Dolly will be fine, too, as she will have Poppy for company.

It is a concern when our pets are poorly.... part of our families. It's brilliant when you find a good vet. Worth their weight in gold.

Nana - our vet really is fantastic. You hear some awful horror stories, especially in the raw feeding communities because lots of vets tell you it's an awful thing to do to your dog!

When DD said they were getting a dog I was dead against it , she already had 3 cats and has always had a mini Zoo of other animals , Rabbits , Hamsters ect ,
I also thought its not fair on a dog them being out at work all day , Then they walked in with this little ball of talking howling fur that was Storm and he took our hearts ,
How we came to look after him two or more days a week im not sure it just seemed to be agreed between us and other grandparents we would take him two days each and he would go to Day care one day ,

I now cant imagine being without him ,
We have the best of both worlds , the love and company of a dog without vet bills or having to walk him ( although we do )

Grauntie have you tried puss with raw mince or raw minced chicken ?
Im not fat just 6ft too small

No Oma. She got her appetite back for a few days but now we are back to square one as of yesterday. I even sent OH to Asda for her new favourite Southern style chicken! I couldn’t even tempt her with some gammon from my plate yet she is asking for something. Ho hum.

Is gammon is bit too salty for her, Grauntie? She perhaps realises her kidneys wouldn't like it too much.

It's really hard to know what to offer her, though. Can you give cats raw eggs?

Not her Majesty! She left the gammon but ate a little tuna tonight. I think she is just wearing out, sadly.

Grauntie - it is sad, and sadly inevitable. But as long as she is eating enough and comfortable there's not much you can do. Sending hugs. xxx

We had a moderate success with the minced beef I got out of the freezer at 3am! DD1 rang tonight to see if we would like to adopt a lovely 6 year old white Staffordshire terrier! I’m very sure my puss would not be happy even though it ‘likes cats’. It’s always hard to say no, but this time I mean it!

You're right Grauntie, it wouldn't be right to add even a 'cat friendly' dog at this stage of Puss's life,
