    Dollie the Basset !!!

It is really windy here today gales blowing and all sorts being blown over, this morning I did all the veg and 2 x chickens for DDs house this afternoon she is staying at home today as eldest DGS is coming to visit her so I said I will send the Sunday Roast down via "dads taxi".
The chickens where put in at 7am and taken out to cool at 9ish OH puts them in the shed to cool on a baking rack.
I come into kitchen and wonder where Dollie is and open the back door to find her under the garden table with 2 x chickens both partly eaten and the door to the shed blown open by the wind
She will obviously not be having any lunch now and luckily enough she did not eat any leg bones just the breasts
so she made sure she ate the best bits.
Poor John has had to go to Morrisons to buy 2 more ready cooked chickens it would have been cheaper to have bought a whole leg of lamb for them when I have totalled up the cost.
Said "fat Basset" is now sleeping it off here by my feet and every now and then gives me looks with big brown eyes so I can't be angry with her at all.

    Oh Dollie!!!!!

That reminds me of when of our our cats a very cheeky boy, stole the chicken off the table one Sunday, right from under my husband's nose when he had turned his back from carving it to get something from behind him!!

Well, who could resist temptation especially when it involved cooling chicken?

Bet the replacements weren't as tasty as the home cooked ones!

Our Great Dane used to drool when chicken was being carved because she always got the skin!

Glamm - I'm sorry, I had to laugh! I bet Dollie thought it was her birthday. Thank goodness she stopped short of eating the chicken legs, though. As you say, you can't be cross - well done Dollie on using your initiative to sniff out those chickens.

Gem - I remember our Clyde jumping on to the table and eating the ham laid out for lunch with visitors!

Sorry Glam but it made me laugh too. It seems that Dollie isn't the only opportunist on here.🤣🤣

Plant,in the outbuilding attached to the kitchen OH has a box of goodies where he keeps treats for the dogs and cat it is on the floor of the shed and OH had placed the dish with the cooling chicken on top so it was easy picking for her,we have now said anything cooling will not be left there again at any cost.
