    Giant moth

Yesterday sitting quietly I heard a fluttering sound coming from the fireplace. I thought a bird was in the chimney at first but when I investigated and opened the front an enormous moth fluttered out, rather disoriented. I caught it in a jar and released it into the garden Just hope a bird didn’t get it while it was still a bit shocked.I looked it up and think it was a Hawk Moth.

A couple of years ago R caught an Elephant Hawk Moth. She kept it in a jar with some leaves.
For some reason she called it Katrina, and asked grandad to look after it in his shed.
Every time she came she would check it over. It seemed quite happy.
After several months, she decided to let it go.

It is beautiful, Clover. Well done for rescuing it.

Nanto - R did well to keep her moth alive! She must have given it the right sort of leaves.

You would have heard me screaming from several gardens away.

The only thing I am afraid of. Spiders don't scare me at all. I have had a terror of moths as long as I can remember.
