Thank you everyone. Had a nice morning, DD came over with my present, perfume and lots of chocolate, stayed for coffee then a friend turned up with a lovely cake she had made for me so a pleasant morning chatting. Had a lovely bouquets of flowers from GS and lots of cards.
To hospitalmwith DH for his scan this afternoon, all went well, just waiting for the results.
Then everything went pear shaped......GS popped in on his way home from work. We were chatting in the conservatory, he had a slice of cake and a drink whilst I got on making our tea. He suddenly went very quiet and when I looked he was having a fit, he’s type 1 diabetic, frightened the life out of me. Shouted for DH to come and help and I phoned DD. Luckily they only live over the road so she rushed over with a glucose injection to give to DGS to bring him out of the hypo. It was so scary and he finally came round but was fighting against her trying to give him gluco gel, and he’s so strong. He’d bitten his tongue as well, so there was blood everywhere. To cut a long story short, he eventually came out of it, poor boy, this has happened before but not for a while. It was so horrible seeing him like that, swearing at us and even threatening to hit DD. The most scary thing is, if it happened whilst he was out in his own, people could think he was drunk and wouldn’t help him, we have heard of this happening. Diabetes is a dreadful disease and I feel so sorry for him.

My goodness Enfys, not the way you wanted your birthday to turn out. I'm glad it at least started out well for you.
My FIL was diabetic and a couple of times over the years that happened when he was out, and people assumed he was drunk. Luckily both times his wife was with him. Scary to think what could happen if someone was alone. I was going to ask what Libra did about an alert bracelet.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Yes, he has an alert wrist band, but someone actually has to look for it and I’m sure a lot of people would just assume he was drunk. At least if he’s at home we can deal with it but It’s a worry, another one I could do without."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss
