    Asking for your help ladies

In a bid to entice a few more members to GRU, we are going to produce some postcards advertising our forum. If every card brought in one new member that would be wonderful. It may not work, but it is something I want to try.

Where the help comes in is in asking if any of you would take a few to put into shops, post offices, libraries - anywhere you think grannies would see them? I understand that many of us would not to too happy with local grannies knowing who we are. We have usernames which are not our own, and don't say too much about where we live, so should be able to retain our anonymity if we wish. And, who knows we may even make a new local friend that way
It would be some time of course before these members would access YEO or see your photos.

I understand if anyone prefers not to do this, but if you do, please PM me, and if I don't have your address (I have lots of them!) give me that and I will post them. We will of course reimburse you for any money spent advertising.

    Thank you

I had noticed lots of guests lurking, always surprised when they choose not to join us, after all we are a friendly, welcoming group.

Libra, none of those 'guests' are people. They are machines, spambots etc. It is very hard to find us unless you actually type GranRus into Google, so we don't get genuine newbies.

I'll help any way I can Gem, although I love the little community we have here.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

As long as we can keep our community selective and friendly as we are now I think its a good idea,I could put postcards on my shop notice board I know a few nanna's who would love to become members.xxx

                  Glamma, thank you. Much appreciated
This forum will remain friendly and supportive, no matter how many new members we have. Admin and mods are on the ball and we won't tolerate bullying or anything nasty. Fear not!

I love our group here. The drawback with small forums with no new members is that eventually they dwindle down to 3 or 4 members. Being the tenacious type, I belong to 2 such groups!
If you look at our members, several post rarely, others take long 'breaks'. This is completely fine, after all the forum is here for the members, not the other way around! However, it does mean with a smaller core of regular posters, it is not as lively as it would be with more input!

The other point is that we (admin) pay for this forum. If we want to stick with 'just us', we need to consider moving to a free forum, which is possible. This is something Daisy, Elisi and I intend to discuss next year, weighing up all our options.
I feel that a few new members would benefit the forum, and definitely benefit the new grannies!

Just a reminder while we are on this topic. Anyone could stumble across this forum at any time, apart from YEO. Bearing that in mind, it is wise to have a username which doesn't identify you. Also to use initials or OH, GS1 etc to identify family members (we all know who you mean ) Keep any sensitive post, about DILs etc, in YEO . Keep photos in your media and have your settings to either Members Only or Subscribers - your Friends on here.

                  Thanks everyone.

You have my address so send me some cards and I will see what I can do. I do work with some charities which have older ladies and I could mention it to them without saying that I am on it of course. I am one of the take a breakers. I haven't posted much recently but that is because I am a miserable old bag at the moment for reasons you all know and won't want to be reminded of. Sorry.

Is "complexly" a new word you have made up Gem 😁???

Gem - well done for starting this process.

No matter how many members we have we will always be friendly and supportive and because all us admins and mods are so involved with the forum on a daily basis we 'know' you all as friends.

Gem I could see if the community centre near me and the one I go to when I have my yoga class will put up a card on their notice board. Also the shop near me puts ads in their window so send me some cards. Have you got my address?
