    Platinum All Access membership!

The majority of our regular contributors are Platinum members.
This status is gained by posting regularly in different ares around the forum for at least 3 months (at the discretion of Admin)

We consulted members some time ago and it was agreed that anyone not posting at all for over a year would lose that membership and become Gold members.
Gold members can see and post everywhere that Platinums can, with the exception of YEO and Meeting Up.

If a previous Platinum member wants to resume posting, we are always happy about this. We will be able to reinstate their Platinum status after a period of posting on the forum.

We just wanted to clear this up in case anyone was puzzled as to why they can't see these areas.

As Gem says, Platinum status is for current regular posters, allowing access to read and post in YEO and Meeting Up.

It's easy for decisions and choices to get lost in the mist of time, so perhaps it's useful to say why we have this set up. Most of us met on another forum, and many of us were concerned about posting sensitive information where anyone casually dropping in on the site could read it. However Admin of that forum were unwilling to give us a fenced off area of privacy.

When we were setting up GransRus founding members were very clear that a private area was an important priority for them. Hence Your Eyes Only. Given general concerns about personal security, Meeting Up was added later.

We know that life happens and that some members leave or stop posting and later return (and we are always delighted to welcome them back) and as Gem has said, and we are delighted to reinstate their Platinum status after a period of time.

So at any time members can see who has access to YEO, and can feel reassured that they can talk in confidence.
