Ive noticed over the last week or so, when I sign in to GRU, it says “Not Secure” -gransrus.com in the bar at the top. Is this a problem? I’ve not noticed it before and not sure what it means. Usually when I sign in to a site there’s a little padlock before the name.

Ladies fear not!
This is not new, it has been the case for some time.
In fact our site is very secure, we pay for regular updates, your security matters to us!
It is a technicality and as WG says, one we have promised to get sorted, and we will.
In fact Daisy and I had a conversation about this right before we had the shocks of death of our member Zizi, and at the same time the death of Daisy's cousin. Both of which threw us out of kilter, especially Daisy with all she has had to do and still is.
So..... please don't worry it really is nothing for you to worry about and be assured it is something we plan to address sooner rather than later.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

It's a very sensible question, and right to be careful, Enfys, and every one else.
The little padlock denotes "https" status. HTTP stands for hypertext transfer protocol. The 's' on the end indicates the site has purchased an SSL Certificate - you get the S and the little padlock. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. This is really important if you are a merchant handling customers' credit/debit card information, which of course we are not. For us it's a little bit like having a 5-point safety belt in a car when an ordinary seat belt would be fine.
But as Gem says, we had just sourced a provider and were going to purchase it when we got the dreadful news about Tizzy and my cousin, which pushed everything else into the background. I had in fact had a conversation with the provider we'd chosen the morning of my cousin's death. So we are still going to go ahead and install this extra layer when I am not darting off up north every five minutes, but SSL had to go on the back burner for a little while.
As you can imagine, this service has to be purchased and at the moment our GRU piggy bank is running on empty so we will be asking for donations as and when, and as always, there is no pressure or expectations on our parts. But now is not the time to be talking money etc, out of respect for Tizzy.
As always we are constantly checking our safety measures and as you know there are areas within GRU that are not visible to anybody except Platinum members, Mods and Gem and me.
I hope that reassures, you - but we are always happy to answer any queries about anything to do with GRU.
