    YEO membership

As our regular members know, YEO stands for for Your Eyes Only.
At the last forum, where a lot of us met, we asked for a long time to be given a private space, which was eventually granted. When we started this new forum, we knew it was an important feature for members. Not all use it, but most do and it is there if and when you need it.
This is a space where we feel more confident to discuss some matters which we wouldn't like the casual browser of the forum or brand new member to read.
All our Platinum members are able to view YEO. To everyone else the whole section is invisible. It is down to Admin to grant Platinum status and open up YEO. A new member would have to be a member for some time, and make a fair number of applicable posts (not just the I agree, or Me too posts which can be used to bump up the post count) before this happens, and it is at the discretion of Admin whether it happens at all.

Our newest members Sunshine, is a long standing and close friend of Daisy, so we were able to grant her a fast track to Platinum and YEO It would usually take a lot longer.

For a while now Admin have been considering the matter or YEO and lapsed members. It is a privilege to have access to YEO, and members are opening their hearts there. It somehow doesn't seem right that what we post there can be read by people who never ever say anything, not just on YEO, but on the forum at all.

We feel that in fairness to those who post there, it is unfair that what is written can be read by those who no longer take part.
The answer, we feel is to remove YEO access from those who either don't visit the forum at all, or who do but never post.
This will not apply to any member who has had too much going on to post for while.
If a member hasn't been active for a year or more however it seems fair to remove their YEO access.
YEO access can of course be reinstated, if members become active again.

I hope none of you feel this is unfair.
It is something Admin had discussed for some time, and not acted on so far.

That seems very fair, Gem. Something I hadn’t even thought about, thank you and Admin.

Gem, it has crossed my mind about lapsed members being able to read YEO.
But, i never thought it was my place to say anything.
        It isn't unfair at all.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I agree Gemini, it should not be open to those who appear to have left us.

Can I just add, Gem made the post, but I am in agreement. We know YEO is a place you can open your hearts and know you are among friends. We're still at the stage of deciding exactly how to execute any changes we may make.

There are also a couple of other issues Admin need to get their heads round, because we do need to attract new members to keep our Forum lively and relevant, but we are committed to only doing this with your safety as our priority.

Nanto - and all our lovely Mods - your suggestions will always be gratefully received and listened to.

Gem it seems fair to me. I must admit there have been times, for a fleeting moment I have worried that YEO could be seen by anyone who has stumbled upon GRUS but who has no intention of joining .

It's not possible Mimi. If you sign out completely and access the forum without signing in you won't see it.

Mimi - I can understand this , but if you ever want to check totally log out of the Forum and then Google "gransrus.com" . You will get several results for us. Just click on one and check that you've got the "Log In or Sign Up" message above the denim coloured area top right of the screen. Click on "Forums" (under the logo) and you should see all the forums except YEO and Meetings.

If you were anything other than a Platinum member you would still not be able to see YEO or any of the topics in that forum.

I never leave my iPad logged in so I check it every time I use it. It helps me remember my password as well!!!

this does seem very sensible to me . I don't post much , in fact it can be weeks between me popping in and saying anything , but I would still consider myself a member
