    Barbecue Food

The recent hot weather has got all our neighbours digging their barbecues out and about 5 pm the air starts to fill with cooking. We're very unimaginative with barbie feasts - it's usually burgers, chicken, sausages, maybe corn on the cob and if we're really pushing the boat out, rum-soaked bananas.

Has anybody got any suggestions for something a bit more interesting, please?

Salmon is a family favourite on BBQ along with a fresh salad and new potatoes or Jackets done in tin foil adds just that little bit of smoke to them ,
Along with the usual stuff , I'm not a lover of steak done on the Barbie but there again I'm not a lover of steak anyway but lamb chops marinated are good too
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Not a barbie person...in spite of our time in Oz! Sorry Daisy!

DS is in the middle of building a pizza oven and BBQ in their garden so that should carter for non BBQ people .
I am not a fan of BBQ I usually have a jacket potato and salad . Not very adventurous I must admit

We don't really go in for BBQs but if we are invited to any that the DCs are doing".
I was put off them when my youngest son asked my sister "where did you get those diesel flavoured burgers from Auntie Lesley" she was not amused one bit,but she couldn't cook on a normal cooker so there was no chance on a BBQ.

Glamm - that made me laugh out loud! I wonder how your youngest DS knew what diesel-flavoured burgers tasted like?

I love BBQs, but OH isn't very keen, so it's always a bit of a battle to persuade him. It's the only time he 'cooks', under duress, and only if I get everything ready so he just has to put things on the grill and take them off before they become cinders! I would happily do the actual barbecuing myself if he got everything ready for me!!

Salmon is a good suggestion - many thanks. Do you cook it in foil or straight onto the grill?

Daisy we have one of those fish holders that you can turn the fish over in but we have used foil before or even a oven tray ,
If using foil I would advise laying the salmon on top of sliced lemon though as it tends to stick to the foil .

My OH isn't keen on barbecues either. When my children were growing up barbecues were a regular summer feature in our garden, for friends and family.
My present OH didn't have them, and I wasn't keen enough to be the one to do all the work (LOL) so we have never had them.
However, one of OH's golf ladies was giving away a gas barbecue, and not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth OH said we would have it!
She then got me , as she rarely uses FB, to ask FB friends if anyone had a gas cylinder they didnt want. Amazingly, friends who live in our village have one.
                    So...... watch this space

Oma - thank you for that - putting lemon slices under the fish is a brilliant idea!

Gem - your barbecuing life might be rekindled this summer then! (See what I did there. )

I will certainly use the lemon slices thanks for that Oma,up to now I have always used foil the dull side not the shiny side.
