    Slow Cooker Bread.

I saw this recipe on another forum and it appealed to me.
All you do is heat your slow cooker on high, mix a packet of bread mix of your choice, I used a Waitsrose Multiseed Malted bread mix. Just follow the mixing instructions, knead in your processor or by hand, line slow cooker with cooking parchment and put dough in. No need to prove, it does it in the cooker. Lid on and check after an hour. Mine took 2 1/2 hours in total. Check if it is ready by using a thermometer, ( BBQ type seems fine) it should be 190f if it is cooked. Remove from cooker and brown under the grill. Delicious. Apparently different slow cookers take different amounts of time. Mine is a Cordon Bleu and very old and very basic.

I don't have a slow cooker, Grauntie but this sounds good!

I think I would rather have a bread maker Gem, but I really can't justify it. 😏

I use my slow cooker a lot, but i have never made bread in it. Hubby would love the type of bread Grauntie Mag made.
I keep thinking about getting a breadmaker, but i suppose hubby is right, when he says i would probably use it a couple of times, then give it away.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

GM - that sounds interesting, and definitely worth a go. I'm all for finding new ways to use my slow cooker.

Nanto - since we got a bread maker (about 10 years ago, I think) I've used it all the time. I probably buy a loaf about once a year - it really is so easy. I keep the bread maker on the work surface in a corner. All the ingredients apart from butter are in the cupboard underneath, and it literally takes 5 minutes to sling the ingredients in and that's it! The taste and quality of the bread is stunning, and we actually find it hard to eat standard white sliced now because we can taste the chemicals in it. A 600g loaf lasts us 5-6 days and we keep it in a poly bag and don't handle it, so it keeps really well.

I have made lemon curd in it before Daisy but it was a long time ago.

Like Daisy I use my breadmaker regularly, it really is easy. That and my soup maker have been big successes.

My favourite and most used kitchen appliance is my slow cooker.

I used to have a slow cooker when the boys were all at home and we had the shop but don't have one now. Our new oven has a bread making setting and a proving setting, it has only been used once (by himself). I would rather go to the little independent baker shop in the high street than faff around making bread.

In the slow cooker (sorry if I'm being thick!). My mum used to make lemon curd and it always seemed easy, but I've never tried. Perhaps the slow cooker could tempt me. Do you have a recipe, please?

Ha! Yes I do but that book is in storage until March Daisy. I will ask DD2, she may have it.

Apparently my new oven makes yoghurt, dries fruit and does all sorts of stuff. I am too bruddy lazy to do any of that maybe if I wasn't working I might give it a go

Another gadget I fancied was a fruit dehydrater. I do like fruit leathers. I tried to dry it in the heated trolley but it wasn't successful. Your oven sounds the bees knees Zizi.
