    Bread Pudding

I have to say I haven't tried this recipe. I saw it on Facebook so copied it here so I can find it!
I had never tried, or even heard of bread pudding until I went to college in London in the 70's.

The lady who ran the sandwich bar we all frequented had it on her menu. I adored it!

I intend to try making this.

    BREAD PUDDING

Break a white loaf up and soak in water for a couple of hours, tip into a colander and squeeze water out, put into a deep bowl and add sugar (as sweet as you like it between 4-6 heaped dessert spoons more if you like it really sweet).
Add good few handfuls of dried fruit, half a grated fresh nutmeg, 2 teaspoons mixed spice (more if you like it spicier) one beaten egg, 2oz melted butter, mix together tip into greased meat tin.
Cook at 160 on fan for about one/hour and half, take out and sprinkle with sugar...Enjoy

Gem, I saw this recipe as well, so many thanks for putting where I can find it as well.

I love bread pudding, but have never made it as OH isn't keen, but I'm going to try it and serve it with gallons of Birds custard (made from custard powder and milk), which OH simply can't resist!

Oh one of my favourites bread and butter pudding,
we often make it with brioche, had some last week as it happens.
B makes a mean one he soaks the bread in a milk and egg mixture,
Lets it stand to absorb the milk before cooking .
so fluffy when it comes out

A childhood staple in our house growing up we all loved it , that and rice pudding ,
sometimes if we were lucky we got pouring cream on top

I quite often make a rice pudding - OH and I both like it.

The lady who makes the sandwiches and hot food in our local shop makes this using left over bread! It is so heavy and dense that it's put me right off bread pudding! When schools had their own in house kitchens, one cook used to make the most marvellous bread pudding and she always sent some 0f the puddings to the staff room for morning break ! Lovely treat especially as they were usually warm when we got them!

I really don't like bread and butter pudding or Queen of puddings though! Nor rice pudding but I used to love my granny's with sultanas in it! I very rarely have puddings these days!

A home made sherry trifle, now that's a different matter!!!

I love what are generally called nursery puddings. Puddings containing cream are out of bounds for me, so that rules out a lot of popular ones.

I do make trifle for visitors though. My dad always used to make one for Boxing Day and I still do mine the same way, and WG - sherry is compulsory!

Oh i love sherry trifle but has to be home made shop bought ones tend to taste chemical and plastic.
We made trifle on Saturday with dream topping rather than cream it was lovely.
