Post-Christmas/New Year Sales

Who's out and about looking for bargains in the Sales?

We'll go after New Year - we're not looking for high tecket items slashed to pennies. It's just a few household things - linen teatowels, possibly bedding for the single beds. I'm very tempted to get stacking beds for my study to give us more floor space. I might have to work a bit of persuasion on OH first!!

I shall go after the new year Daisy or should I say we. I need some warm tops , more leggings, pyjamas, and whatever takes my fancy Oh gave me £100 voucher for Pandora I might peruse there 🤔
OH needs clothes full stop you say it he needs it and perhaps lunch too
My hairdryer conked out this morning but can’t wait till new year so looks like Argos will be getting a visit

I have a single bed with another rolled underneath in the spare room, you can put them side by side and zip the mattress together if needed. Not used much now, they were mainly used by youngest two GS'S when they were younger. I had thought about replacing them with a sofa bed so that I could have my machine out all the time. There is also a desk in there so not a lot of room.

I want new bedding and curtains when we change the beds around but not rushing to the so called sales ,
Usually the sales have nothing in I'm looking for anyway ,
We were talking about this yesterday ,I'm always suspicious of sales I worked in retail many years ago and I remember the shops would put out old stock they couldn't get rid off and buy in sale stuff so was never really a bargain
This has gone on for many years , they know if they can get you through the doors most people will buy something

When I worked in a shoe shop we had a cellar and a few times a year the old stock was dragged out and a sale sticker put on , if any didn't sell they went back into the cellar till the next so called sale

I go by the mantra that if you are buying something in the sales just because it’s reduced it’s not really a bargain.

I agree with Oma, lots of so called reduced items are old stock that hadn’t been sold earlier in the year, just look how many summer t-shirts are in the shops in the middle of winter.

I really could do with a new laptop, OH says I should get one now in the sales but I have said there is no rush as there are always offers on just about everything, just look at sofas , the likes of DFS always seem to have a sale on !

I'm not a big fan of sales, especially as many stores have almost permanent offers these days.
I do buy Christmas crackers and cards in the sales for the following year, and have ordered a few Christmas decorations in the Lakeland sale.

I am going into the town to the cinema this afternoon with GD, no doubt it will be crowded with people at the sales.

Daisy do have a look at The Range when hubby and I where browsing through their Store last week for a small dining table I saw a lovely Day Bed with a store underneath matteress it was very attractive to say the least and the price was very reasonable.
I have been to JLewis sale to-day but I knew what I was going for I went for Organic Cotton Sleepsuits and Bodysuits and little new born hats & scratch mits they where all reduced so both new babies got treated for when they arrive.Hubby was treated to 2 x thermal long sleeved tops for his doggy walking duties so he can't say he has been left out.

Glamm - thanks for that. We haven't got a convenient Range here, but if there's something we want it would be worth making the journey!

Plant - what did you got to see at the cinema?

Oma - I'm alwasy very suspicious. Ideally I like to have seen items at normal prices before the Sales start - but that happens less and less these days.

We saw The Greatest Showman Daisy, it is about Barnham. The traffic in the town was dreadful for no apparent reason as the shops and car park were not that busy, it seemed to be cars trying to negotiate their way through the town, very puzzling, we nearly gave up.

In my younger days I would get excited about sales but as others have said there are always offers on these days. I want new cushions for my sitting room but I dont have the time (or the will to be honest) to venture into the high streets of nearby towns.

We we are going g to order a new blind for the bedroom on line in a sale and I am also paying for an on line accredited course which is much reduced and needs to be ordered by 31st January. The cushions will wait, I don’t want to be panicked into buying something cheaply when it is not suitable. I would rather wait until I find something we both like.
