When They Get Older - caring for elderly relatives

I came across this website. It could be very useful for those of us with elderly parents or other relatives.

Practical advice and ideas to help families support ageing family and friends. We share knowledge around daily challenges and quality of life.

My mum died when she was 71 not old at all these days but the family had nursed my mum for many years she had chronic asthma and had a nebuliser at home, because of all the steroids she took her spine was crumbling and spent the last 2 yrs in a wheelchair, my brother soon lost interest so it was left to me and dad, dealing with a commode ain't pleasant and she was more bad tempered than ever😏 plus cleaning the home and shopping it's hard Gem I know it is, my dad was 10 yrs older than my mum so by this time he was 81 but independent, but as the years went on obviously he got older very grumpy, quite incontinent due to small tumours in his bladder, we did have as they called them in those days home helps and he spent his last couple of years in a residential care and died at the age of 94
I havnt read the link yet but will do now just wanted to say I know how hard it can be 😒

I suppose I am 'lucky' that I never had to care for frail elderly parents for any length of time. but this kind of information could have been very useful. As Qwerty says it's a useful site to share with our own children for us when the time comes.

Very useful and informative, I am passing the link on to DD . She will say "Oh Mum!!", but it could come in handy one day. I found it very interesting so thanks for sharing Gem.
