    Jean-Patrique Cookware

For ages I've been looking for a pan, like a frying pan but without a long handle - preferably with two small handles that I can use on either the hob, under the grill or in the oven. But all the ones I've seen have been cast iron, and I know I'd never give it the care and attention it demands, and they are very heavy.

I saw the Jean-Patrique Whatever pan online and it was on offer so I ordered one. It arrived very quickly and I used it last night to make a frittata - the small handles made it easy to put under the grill and turn round to cook evenly. It's cast aluminium, so much lighter than cast iron. You do have to be careful because the little handles get as hot as the pan, but I splashed out on silicon covers for them which make it easier to serve from it, and a bonus, it comes with a glass lid with a spoon rest incorporated into the knob on top! I'm really pleased with it.

Daisy, I have one very similar, it has removable handles, short or long, I can put it in the oven and under the grill, I love it.!

In fact I am going to order this one! We will be getting induction next year and mine won't work on that, so, thanks for the tip!

Sounds good, just replaced my roasting tins, just JL. I didn’t want heavy ones as they are difficult for me to lift safely. Will have a look at those Daisy.

Not a bad price either Daisy so a bonus ,

Its nice to find something that can be used in all ways without having to change from one pan to the other ,

Lizzie we have induction and bought induction pans , then discovered a sort of flat sheet with a handle that allows you to use your ordinary pans on a induction hob .
B has one pan he likes and didn’t want to throw it out so uses this when using that pan 🙂

I'm stupidly pleased with it - it's just a pan, but I've been looking for exactly this for ages. Oh, and it came with a free cookery book as well, and I paid for the silicon handles which are very useful.

Lizzie - I've got one saucepan that was my mother's. It must be about 70 years old and it's the best saucepan for boiling potatoes. It's got a copper bottom, though, so no good for induction hobs, I presume.

Plant - it's certainly a lot lighter than similar ones in cast iron. Unfortunately you can't put it in the dishwasher and OH says you have to wash into the grooves carefully to get it clean, but I think it might depend on what you're cooking.
