    Amazon

This is a warning really. We ordered some Chef & Sommelier glasses from Amazon. 6 x champagne and 12 wine. First to arrive were the champagne glasses. One was badly chipped. The glasses were unwrapped in the box, just sat in the cardboard compartments. The box was wrapped up in bubble wrap and then packed in another box. I’m surprised more weren’t broken! They rattled around like billeyo inside. They were returned. Today the wine glasses arrived. (Different supplier). As OH took the box we heard the tinkle of broken glass. Same method of wrapping and most broken. Again we have sent them back and a refund has been issued. This must happen every time. I have sent my comments to Amazon re. the packaging. What an absolute waste of money due to thoughtless packaging.

Grauntie - frustrating and disappointing for you - and what a waste! I get cross when they over-package, but this is worse in a way. Over-packaging does at least mean the goods arrive in tact, whereas this is just utter stupidity. I wonder what your comments to Amazon were.... ?????

So annoying , either they over pack or not enough , but surely whoever packed them could use common sense where glass is concerned , .

How ridiculous Grauntie. It sounds as though they were packed by 4 year olds!!
Surely it must be practice to individually wrap glasses and mugs??
Last year I bought a set of mulled wine glasses. The glass is fairly thick as it has to withstand heat. Each was well wrapped in bubble wrap, then they were in stout cardboard box with more bubble wrap inside and outside.

The problem is that although we buy through Amazon it’s the company you buy your products from that dispatches them , but Amazon should be having a word with these companies 😏

How disappointing Grauntie. then you have the hassle of returning them.
I've had things less delicate packaged better.

Amazon must be racking in the profits. I was with a friend yesterday and she told me that she ordered a childs electric car, it cost 120 pounds, when it arrived it didn't work so she contacted them and said it is probably the re-chargable batteries, they said they would send another car and they didn't want the other one back, she bought some batteries and sure enough the first one worked, now she has two working cars, she is hoping to sell one and send the money to a charity. Then a similar thing happened to a cycle machine, it came with two bolts missing, Amazon couldn't send bolts bolts and said they would send another bike, she wasn't keen because her OH had only just finished putting it together so they gave her a third of her money back, her OH went into his shed and found two bolts that fitted. I don't think I have bought much from Amazon, just CD's

I remember ordering quite an expensive toy for GS2's birthday one year. His birthday is mid-January, so knowing how things sell out I ordered it in plenty of time. It didn't work and they just sent another one and didn't want the broken one back but by then it was a few days before Christmas and they made a point of reassuring me it would be in time for Christmas! I didn't think it was wise to tell them it was for mid-January! But when I bought a Tassimo coffee machine and that didn't work, I had to send the broken one back. So maybe it depends on the supplier not just Amazon.

I tend to get a lot from Amazon & have gone through returns/keeps/replacements/under packaging & over packaging etc The only money I lost out from was an order from China. They dilly dallied so long the time ran out. Not worth making a fuss as the order came to £4.

Grauntie you would have thought that some numpty would have had the sense to pack such fragile things with more care. 🤞 you have better luck next time.

You would think that common sense would prevail but maybe the packers haven’t got any. Someone hasn’t. I have re-ordered from Ascot Wholesale now, £10 more but at least I got to speak to a very nice human being regarding the packaging.
I have tried to put a review on Amazon but it won’t let me. I’ll try again later.
DD2 bought a rat run for her fancy rats and one of the panels was broken. Another complete run was sent and she got to keep the original and it wasn’t cheap. Happy ratties!
