    Sapphire Wedding present

Next weekend we are going to a small celebration of our friends 45th wedding anniversary. Married at 17 and 18, first baby on the way, they are a true love story, meant to be together!
They had a party for their 40th, and have decided on a small celebration this time, for family and oldest friends. I have known them since she was 11 and he was 16!

They didn't want gifts, but we wanted to give them something. They love wine, but I wanted something a bit more imaginative.
I finally settled on two photo mugs. I chose blue insides for the sapphire theme! One photo is a lovely head and shoulders one taken a couple of years ago, of them both. The other is of them both, very young and slim, her in a bikini, on their motorbike one summers day. They had that one on top of their 45th anniversary cake
I have bought a nice gift box, blue tissue paper to line it and protect the mugs, and a blue bow for the top.
I am happy with it, and I hope they will be too.

That sounds like a very lovely and thoughtful present Gemini, I am sure they will appreciate the thought that has gone into it.

Gem - that sounds perfect. What a lovely thoughtful idea.

I always feel embarrassed when people invite you to any sort of celebration and say 'no gifts'. This happened to the 70th we went to this week, so OH is going to make a wooden bowl or platter which we will give them as a 'thank you' for a lovely day.
