Why do girls scream? When I worked at the local middle school which is very close to me, play times were very noisy with the girls screaming, the boys just wanted to play football, you would have several matches going on on the same playground, don't know how they knew who was playing with who. I can still hear the children at play times.

We back on to the local Primary school playing field and sometimes I can eavesdrop on the children talking as they can't see me. Usually though it's just a lot of noisy play which I don't mind hearing at all.We also have the advantage of having a very quiet back garden during weekends and holidays.

These last two afternoons both GDs have wanted to play on the trampoline in their back garden. In fact the garden is so small the trampoline IS most of the garden. But I thought of Plant this afternoon. GD1 was trying to set up a complicated game and GD2 just wanted to bounce. GD2 ended up screaming so loud it's a wonder Plant didn't hear her!!! One neighbour has a rather nervous little Yorkie and she was in the garden, but soon ran back into their house."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. Its grand to have nice neighbours Gems all my immediate neighbours are very nice indeed (except dragon underneath me) I really should be more charitable considering the work I do but just can't make myself like her one tiny bitI've just come back from chatting to a couple of them who I know have no family near enough to pop in I try to do this a couple of times a week we are arranging our Christmas lunch at the local pub for mid December.

Gem - I'm so glad your new neighbours are neighbourly! It makes so much difference. Their cat sounds quite a character. Does he come into your garden?
Glamm - I know what you mean. In our little cul de sac everybody is either very friendly or very quiet, but perfectly pleasant, apart from one house. They never speak to anybody. Got very shirty with us last year when a Christmas card was inadvertently delivered to their house, and drive far too fast in and out of their drive despite there being several families of young children. I've tried to be both pleasant and charitable towards them, but have now given up!

Daisy, Sooty the cat came into our house, which is how we first met our neighbours! It was a hot summers day and I had left the back bedroom window open as baby GS was napping and it gets hot in there. He was awake and downstairs, GD was there after school too, and very apolgetic neighbours knocked on the door. They leave their window open for the cat to get in ( presumably they have no cat door) and Sooty had climbed onto our conservatory roof and into our room!
I often see him on our flat garage roof, looking cutely down at me
My main worry had been cat hating neighbours, so it has all turned out well!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Pleased you have good neighbours Gem. As you know we have a dog. He's really territorial so would let the cat know, (in no uncertain terms) not to trespass on his patch.😨"Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."

I don't mind dogs at all, and some of our friends have lovely dogs . As a family non of us are dog owners though.
I am happy however, that no dogs have lived at either side of us so far. In fact, between us and neighbours either side, there are 5 cats“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
