    Coincidences.

Just been talking about coincidences with someone.I have 2 to share.

In the late 70s we were on holiday on the Norfolk Broads, with our 2 young boys. Our boys made friends with 2 other boys, while talking to their parents, we found out they used to live 2 streets away from us. They used to live in the house that my sister in law was living in.

2011, we were on a Caribbean cruise. A Scottish couple asked if they could share our table. While chatting, we found out they were landowners, who held shoots.Told us about a family from the same county as us,who used to go to said shoots. Turned out the family were brothers to my ex sister in law.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Nanto - it's a small world, isn't it! Being a long way from home when these coincidence crop up seems even more bizarre.

Way back in 1973/4 (at the time of the 3-day week and power cuts) we went to visit my OH's brother and family who lived in Nassau. One night I was talking to a colleague of BIL's and it turned out that his wife came from the village I'd lived in before getting married! Fast forward a few days and several parties. I saw someone who seemed familiar, but dismissed it - we were a long, long way from home! He kept looking at me with the same questioning expression. Then we recognised each other. He also lived in the same village and we used to travel in to work on the same bus and had several friends in common.

Later on in the same holiday my OH and BIL were walking down Bay Street (the main street in Nassau) and ran into someone who had been at school with them in North Wales. He was working on the QEII which had just docked.

Isn't it odd how these things happen? We were driving to the south of France on an Autoroute when the girls were young and we pulled into a lay by for lunch. I had forgotten the spoons for yoghurt. There was a caravan with a GB on so I thought I would go and ask to borrow one of theirs. The door was opened by a friend from home. A very jolly lunch was shared by all.

No wonder people say 'it's a small world'!!!

Any more stories of random meetings or coincidences?

Amazing stories! I'm sure I must have at least one, but I can't bring anything to mind right now!

Qwerty - there must come a time in a holiday when you say to each other 'we haven't seen anybody we know yet', and then you do!!
