Can't imagine what the neighbours thought.

We have a lot of birds nesting in our garden. Yesterday morning,we were having breakfast and hubby noticed the blackbirds divebombing, into one of the trees,where they are nesting.Then a magpie flew out of the tree.When hubby went to investigate,flapping his arms about he found a blackbird dead, looked like the magpie had pecked at it.
Now, my hubby isn't a big animal lover, but he loves to watch the birds, with their comings and goings.Late last year, he put a new nest box up, on the side of the shed, and he's thrilled to bits to have blue tits nesting in it.
If any of the neighbours had seen him, they would have wondered what was happening.

I'm sure the neighbours would have cheered him on Nanto! Magpies are terribly aggressive and I've seen blackbirds fighting to the end to defend their nests. I hope the blue tits are ok and out of reach of magpies and cats.

Blue tits and great tits nest in holes in an old apple tree every year, unfortunately our male cat knows this too and we have to keep chasing him off.

We have a pair of magpies who terrorise the cat over the road this poor cat sits there and one will be in front of it and one behind and as hes watching the one in front the one behind will nip his tail then he spins around and the other one takes a nip , this can go on for ages we used to laugh at them but after a while you could see this cat was getting sick of it so now when it happens we try to chase them , they are thugs of the Bird world

Just recently I hammered on my kitchen window when I saw a magpie trying to get into a blackbird nest in the tree in front of my kitchen window, bruddy things. I am sure they are multiplying.
