    Kindness of people

Door bell just went , opened the door and a man standing with a large bread basket full of essential s all free from our local shop . One of our neighbours 3 doors down had put our name down as people who may need help . How thoughtful was that .

I declined the lovely offer as we have what we need and asked him to pass it onto someone else . He was grateful that we had not just taken it for sale of having it , he said he will call each week just incase . I did say if anything it would have been bread and milk but we were doing fine . My Elderly neighbours took a few bits like bread and sugar but they were ok too but thrilled all the same .

I have just text my neighbour to say thank you for thinking about us and we are so touched by their concerns.
This shows true community spirit . I will ring the shop later and thank them too it was all good stuff too no rubbish all free . I'm blown away with the kindness šŸ˜€

Coronavirus is certainly bringing out the best in most people. (The worst in others.)

Oma - what a wonderful neighbour to have nominated you, and also your local shop for their generosity. Another thank you - to you and B for not taking what you didn't actually need.

Sunshine - I think, on the whole there are more good, kind and thoughtful gestures than morons who only think of themselves - at least around here that's how it's looking.

That is kind Oma, and thoughtful of you not to take anything just because you can! The growers are doing a lot here for elderly etc with plants and flowers, all the staff of one of the biggest supermarkets in the village all got presented with a box full of plants. Very thoughtful.

Also very thoughtful this morning, our PM visited a 24 hour childrens nursery here in the village, it is for care workers to leave their children when on duty.

My sister told me today that she is expecting a food parcel to be delivered.

It's heart-warming to hear these tales of kindness within our communities. Lizzie - I know we're incredibly lucky and count my blessings every day, but I am missing having fresh flowers in the house. Silly, isn't it.

But all 4 of my potted orchids are flowering their little heads off at the moment and they bring great pleasure to me.

So I can imagine how much the recipients of the box of plants appreciated the unexpected 'thank you' from the grower. It was sad to see all the Mother's Day plants and flowers being bull-dozed, but they said it wasn't practical to do anything else with them. This act of kindness makes up for it a bit.

Thankfully there are more nice people around than the press who have us believe .
Our neighbours have been wonderful, offering help with shopping etc. We are the oldest residents this end of our Crescent so it's heartwarming to know that they've thought of us.

A local garage that sells , apart from obviously petrol, advised that he had surplus bags of potatoes that needed to be used up and he was offering them free to any one on hard times or a donation to the NHS . He had to withdraw the offer after just one day as a few unscrupulous people were reselling the bags off . A few spoils things for the many

Oh that's despicable. Makes me so angryšŸ¤¬ I really hope these money grabbing 'things' (not people in my mind) get their come-upance. Life's balance I suppose. Let's just hope that the good outweigh the bad.

Mimi - that's disgusting, people making money out of someone else's generosity.

How low can some people sink, what a generous offer, I hope some genuine folk were able to benefit.

We have, as I expect most of you have, a village website and at the moment people are posting messages about one of our independently owned shops in a small parade. Dips it is called and he is managing to source many items for his customers. Someone posted that he had flour the other day and eggs but take your own egg boxes etc. He always has lots of plants and hanging baskets. I would love to go and look at his plants. He also opens Christmas morning. I hope the present customers will continue to support him.

I had a lovely surprise yesterday. Somebody (but I donā€™t know who) left an Easter egg on my doorstep. It had a message - Happy Easter. I have no idea who put it there. I have asked all the possible people, but no one knows anything about it. I know sometimes people like to ā€˜spread a little kindnessā€™ but Iā€™d love to know who to thank for this lovely gesture. šŸ£
