    Dilemma!

what can I give GD for dinner? It’s getting harder and harder to feed this child.
She is on a gluten free diet and also dairy free. That’s ok but now she is refusing to eat meat. I wish I could put her out to grass, that and a salt lick would make Mondays so much easier. 😬

I sympathise Grauntie! My youngest grandchild, now 21 months is a horror to feed! After 3 children of my own and 2 grandchildren, all of who were easy to feed, this is challenging!
DD bought herself a book about difficult eaters, and is following it with a fair degree of success, so we hope for continued improvement. At one stage he was just about living on breadsticks, raisins and cheese toasties!

If she will eat pasta, you could give your GD gluten free pasta, with no cheese. Either with pesto or a tomatoey based sauce. Also, invest in some quorn to replace meat in most dishes (I'm not sure if it is gluten free though?)
    Good luck!

GM - Oh, how I sympathise - my GS1 is both gluten and dairy-free.

Does she like salmon or prawns. Or eggs in any form. I've resorted to GF bread and made eggy bread at times. She could have fun preparing that - you just do the hot bit. I'm not sure how old she is, but my GD2 loves making eggy bread even though she doesn't like eating it!!! Some makes of baked beans are ok (ordinary Heinz ones, I think)

GF Fish fingers? Home-made burger (everyone knows burgers aren't meat and again helping to make it is fun.)

My GS is very happy with a plate of GF pasta and Dairy and Gluten-free "chesse" grated over it.

The very ordinary McCains' chips are ok (not Home Style ones).

He will also eat 'super jackets' - baked potato with the potato hollowed out. Mash the potato with soya spread, "cheese" and a little soya milk if necessary to make it all nice and fluffy. Pile the mashed potato back into the skin and pop it under the grill for a couple of minutes to lightly brown it.

A very surprising one he loves - asparagus spears wrapped in parma ham or something similar. Steam the asparagus lightly, drain and wrap.

GF pancakes made with Alpro soya milk. Add whatever she likes - my GS usually wants honey.

Good luck. If I can think of anything else, I'll add to it. It also helps if you can have the same meal with her.

Thanks ladies. We ended up with quorn escalope, gf chips and salad. She thoroughly enjoyed it. J is 10 and loves to cook herself. She always asked for pasta and bacon with sauce, cheese on top which was easy, but I didn't think Gf pasta and just sauce would be enough. Since removing gluten and dairy from her diet her tummy troubles (diarrhoea, etc.) have gone.
I did buy dairy free ‘cheese,’ but in slices. I hadn’t realised it could be grated. What brand do you buy Daisy?
The pancakes sound a good idea too.
Gs1 comes too, so I try too cook the same meal but his is ‘normal food’.
Now she has actually tried quorn and enjoyed it, it has opened a few more doors for DD1 and I. Her Mum works full time and is forever chasing her tail, so I am trying to help with meal ideas too.

I’m so glad you found something your GD likes, GM. I can’t remember the brand of gf do cheese offhand. It’s cslled something like Cheesle. I’ll have to check when I’m at home.

It’s great that she likes cooking and I think quorn is quite versatile isn’t it? Happy cooking 😁

Grauntie Mag, did you try the quorn, just interested to know what you thought about it.

I have in the past Nanto2, it’s ok as long as it’s spicy. I didn’t enjoy the quorn mince though.

I think the ' chicken cube' type is nicer than the mince. I sometimes use it in stir fry in place of chicken or pork.
I have cooked Quorn roast a few times when DD and family are with us for Sunday lunch. It is very nice actually, I'd be happy to eat it instead of meat.

I’ll look out for that Gem, casserole or curry comes to mind. 😃

GM - I'm sorry I can't find the details of the GF DF cheese! My DIL will know though, so I'll check with her.

Thanks Daisy. I will investigate when I go out next too.
